Needle in a Haystack: Tips on pinpointing that grant you can’t find For many of us, grants can land in the ‘important but not urgent’ pile of our to do list. But if we don’t get around to Status: Open Provider: NSW Government Location: NSW applying for grants simply due to lack of time or searching success, we move on, oblivious to those missed Amount: $2,500 - $330,000 Round 3 Opens: 07 May 2018 Closes: 15 Jun 2018 opportunities. This week our Grants Researcher, Kristine, shares with us some simple searching tips on how you can increase the effectiveness of your search in our grants directory. Who Can Apply:- There are hundreds of grants in our Directory. Applying the right search parameters will save you precious time • Government • Non-Government • Education • Health • Community Groups • Sporting Clubs when finding the right grant(s). In terms of gaining a full picture of the grants landscape when searching, my key tip here is to tick the closed grants check-box from the ‘Refine Your Search’ filter. Here is some advice we gave recently to two members of The Grants Hub (TGH) who contacted us through the customer messaging platform app with their Co-contribution Required? Yes search questions: Community Building Partnerships Program Example #1 Funds community infrastructure projects that: promote community participation, inclusion and cohesion; deliver positive social, environmental, Member: We are a community centre in North Qld looking for a grant that will fund solar panels for our roof. Can you guide us, please? and recreational outcomes. In 2018, incorporated not-for-profit community organisations and local councils are eligible to apply for grants TGH: In terms of the grant you are seeking, try typing ‘infrastructure’ into our main Search bar and then press the green search button. You can then filter these results even between $2500 and $330,000. The average grant awarded is around $20,000. Projects with contributions from their own or other sources will be considered favourably. Local councils, including their section 355 committees, further by selecting ‘’ from the grey-coloured ‘Refine Your Search’ box on the left-hand side of screen. Doing this will populate a nice small bunch of results for you are required to provide matched funding to the CBP grants. As total funding will be divided equally among the state electorates of NSW, to peruse and assess for relevance against your needs. If the results are too small, I would then suggest ticking ‘Closed’ under the Grant Status field too just so you can see applications will be assessed against other proposed projects within the same electorate. what grants lie ahead later in the year. Grants need to be for: • construction of new community infrastructure Example #2 • refurbishment, repair and maintenance of existing community infrastructure Member: Hi Team, I am just looking for some new equipment for our sporting club, thanks. • capital equipment with a minimum individual asset value of $2500. TGH: Try selecting the orange-coloured category of ‘Community Group Grants’, then refine your searching using the filters on the left-hand side of your screen, if need be. Alternatively, you may also like to try typing in the keyword ‘equipment’ into the main search bar and then refining those results by again using the filters on the left-hand side. In summary, ticking the ‘Closed’ box under the Grant Status field from the ‘Refine Your Search’ function will provide the most comprehensive list of grants associated with your keyword search. And of course, if you’re not having any luck with your search, contact us and we would be more than happy to give you a hand! Happy searching!

10. UNDER 18 STATE OF ORIGIN: NSW v QUEENSLAND

Central Coast Roosters SG Ball centre Tallis Angianga has capped off a remarkable season by being named in the NSW Under-18’s squad to take on Queensland in the Origin I curtain-raiser on Wednesday 6 June at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Angianga will be joined by Central Coast Roosters Juniors Jaron Pucell (Wyong), Bradman Best (Woy Woy) and Phoenix Crossland (Erina), all of whom represented the in the SG Ball Cup in 2018. The team will assemble on Friday 1 June at ANZ Stadium under the guidance of another Central Coast Rooster in coach Mark O’Meley who played 10 games for NSW. An excited O’Meley said “It’s great to see so many of our local talents getting an opportunity to represent NSW. It’s a tribute to all the coaches and clubs that have provided the participation pathway and to the development and representative programs that are in place on the Central Coast”. The Under-18s State of Origin clash will kick off at 5.15pm on 6 June.

CENTRAL COAST LLT REPRESENTATIVE TEAM Central Coast Ladies League Tag won the Final – Congratulations ! On Saturday 26th May, 2018 the CCDRL Ladies League Tag team travelled to Camden to take on Greater Southern Region in the final of the Country Championships. Our opposition had gained a good reputation throughout the series and their side included a number of highly credential players. As a result our girls knew they would have to be at their best if they were to win. Coach, Jeff Coroneos, had stressed the importance of ball control and completing our sets; the game was a little over 2 minutes old when we dropped the ball and they capitalised and raced away to score. The conversion was successful and after only 3 minutes we trailed 6 – 0. The ladies regained their composure but were unable to claw back the deficit and went to the break trailing 6 – 0 and wondering what they needed to do to get back into the game. In the second half the team really lifted (as only champion sides can do) and played some of the best league tag of the season and raced away to a convincing 22 – 6 win. Sarah Dimech (Wyong) was awarded best on the field by CRL, but undoubtedly player of the series from Central Coast perspective was (The Entrance). Once again, congratulations ladies, on a job very well done. ( - See Front Cover photo) CODE OF CONDUCT

Daniel Lawson arrived at Wyong from Ourimbah as a teenager in the early ‘90’s and it was only fitting he played his 400th Grade game for the Roos against the Magpies on Sunday 27th May, 2018. Danny started with Wyong as a flying winger, but in recent seasons has found himself in the middle of the park doing battle with the big boys. Danny is one of the few players still running around whose career has spanned the Club’s pre and post Newcastle Tooheys Cup period (2003 - 2012). Whilst his record shows only one try since Season 2014, for Lawso it was never about performance; pride in the jumper, looking after your team mates and enjoying every moment have been the hallmarks of his time at Wyong. So here is Danny, 400 games down the track, a handful of premierships in hand, looking a little worse for wear but with plenty of great footy memories, still out there banging away.

Congratulations Danny on becoming a 400 Game Player with Wyong Roos. No-one has played more grade games for the Club, and that is an achievement which must be acknowledged and is certainly something in which you and Danny pictured with his Mum and his wife Tammy receiving Framed Jersey for 400 Grade Games. your family can take great pride. Celebrating with Mitch Williams (Wyong ISP Cup Captain), Wyong Open Age Team after the game.
