Round 23 BIG LEAGUE 2018 29 Did your family see your debut?

What was your childhood in like? How does Melbourne life What’s your advice for a kid compare to Fiji? who wants to play like you? Who’s your biggest fan?

Did you want to make a career of footy back then? Girls’ game MATCH-UPS growing up north HE Karyn Murphy Cup has seen huge Tgrowth in 2018. In 2017, its inaugural year, 170 teams from across Queensland competed. Now, more than 230 participating teams make up the comp. Players representing Northern, Peninsula and Capricornia regions came together over two days to display some quality rugby league. In addition to the on-field action, all players heard from current Jillaroos legend , who attended the series. To top off an exciting few days, the players attended a game. The entire experience is something our young players will cherish for years to come. The Karyn Murphy Cup southern finals saw school teams from Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast, Met East, Met North, Met West, South Coast, Darling Downs and South West come together. All games were played in fantastic spirit, with plenty of entertaining rugby league on display. One of the Cinderella stories to come out of this year’s tournament was that of Tagai State College, who are situated on Thursday Island, beyond the tip of Cape York. Tagai have progressed through to the state final in the Year 11-12 division, to be held in Brisbane – more than 2,100km from home. The Tagai schoolgirls come from island communities and most have never played league before. This is thanks to NRL Game Development – and – providing opportunities for girls of the Torres Strait with the inception of an inaugural league tag competition in 2018.
