3.Jurupa Valley moves from the River Valley to the Mountain Valley League 3A. Arlington moves from the Raincross Conference to River Valley League

4.Vista del Lago & Moreno Valley also move to the Raincross Conference from their current Mountain Valley League home.

These new leagues will look as follows>> New schools in bold Citrus Belt: Beaumont, Cajon, Citrus Valley, Redlands, Redlands East Valley & Yucaipa Mountain Pass: Perris, Citrus Hill, Tahquitz, West Valley & San Jacinto Mountain Valley: Jurupa Valley, Miller, Indian Springs, Pacific, Rubidoux & San Bernardino Raincross Conference: Hemet, Moreno Valley, Vista del Lago, Canyon Springs, Elsinore, Heritage, North, Lakeside, Notre Dame, Orange Vista, Paloma Valley, Rancho Verde, Poly & Temescal Canyon River Valley League: Arlington, Hillcrest, La Sierra, Norte Vista, Patriot & Ramona Arrowhead Conference: Arroyo Valley, Bloomington, Carter, Colton, Eisenhower, Fontana, Grand Terrace, Kaiser, Jurupa Hills, Rialto, Rim of the World, San Gorgonio & Summit

Aquinas Boys Basketball Starting Tournament:

Teams have numerous options for their early season tournament games as they work towards league play. Aquinas (Runners up in 4AA last year) is now looking to join that group. They are looking to form a pool play tournament with 12-16 teams for week two (Mon 11/23) as the calendar currently sits. If you are an interested coach please contact Aquinas assistant Danny Fuller at 909-214-4504.

Ricards retires as Woodcrest Christian AD after 36 years:

After 40 years of total service to his school (36 as Athletic Director) Woodcrest Christian's Charlie Ricards is retiring. In small schools though one wears many hats and Ricards was no exception to that rule. During his tenure he coached at various times boys & girls volleyball, boys , golf, and boys basketball. Famously his boys volleyball team reeled off a streak of 105 match wins in a row during Inland Coast League play. Under Ricards the Royals boys basketball program reached three quarterfinals and a semifinal in 17 years along with winning five league titles. He also served on the CIF-SS Executive Committee from 2012-2016 and was the Big Sky League president/CIF-SS representative from ('02-'10) & an Ambassador League rep since 2010. In 2017 he was also inducted into the Riverside Sport Hall of Fame's "Wall of Distinction."

Woodcrest Christian officials are still accepting applications for the position. If interested please email [email protected] with your resume.

CIF-SS Council Meeting News & Notes:

Even though schools are closed there are still meetings and business which needs to be conducted in the form of CIF-SS Council meetings. Here are some items up for debate in their upcoming virtual gathering on May 21>>

1. Revised Ejection Policy- The current one game suspension for non violent offenses would remain in place. Currently an ejected student athlete is barred from attending their team's next contest but that would change in part one of this proposal. Part two deals with violent/assaultive behavior: Currently this is just treated as a standard one game ejection. In this proposed rule change it would now be a 3-6 game suspension determined by the CIF-SS Assistant Commissioner for that sport. Appeals for nonleague & playoff contests would run through the CIF-SS office while league appeals would be handled by the president or through whatever methods are set forth in their constitution. 2. Swim Playoffs- The swimming coaches have introduced a competitive equity proposal disbanding the current league placement into divisions and creating a system just like football, baseball, softball and basketball use. 3. Football Playoff Proposal- This proposal uses current season results to craft playoff groupings and has widespread support from the coaches advisory committee.
