The two-goal effort was the third in three 4/8-10 NCAA Frozen Four - Detroit, MI games for the Badgers after sophomore forwards and Jordy Murray had two- goal games the previous weekend against New Hampshire. Badgers, ending what was a goaltender rotation the fi rst three weekends of the year. Before last weekend, Bennett started Friday’s games and junior Scott Gudmandson started in goal on Saturday nights. Bennett is 3-2-0 on the year, while Gudmandson Hat Tricks sits at 1-1-1. UW hat trick: 1/27/07 - Jack Skille vs. Minnesota State UW natural hat trick: 2/19/00 - at UAA  Freshman forward posted four assists on Wisconsin’s six goals in UW defenseman hat trick: 11/27/92 - Barry Richter at UMD two games last weekend to move into a tie for third on the UW scoring chart with Opp. hat trick: 3/16/07 - Blake Wheeler, Minnesota six points on six assists. Smith split his points, collecting two assists in both games. UW player scored 4 goals: 1/8/05 - Ryan MacMurchy at St. Cloud State  Sophomore defenseman tallied his fi rst goal of the season last UW player scored 5 goals: 1/27/78 - Mark Johnson Saturday, just 28 seconds into the third period. The goal was Gardiner’s second vs. Michigan Tech career tally as a Badger. He has one goal and three points on the season.

Shutouts  Junior defenseman Brendan Smith went scoreless last weekend, ending his UW shut out an Opp.: 10/23/09 - UW 6, Minnesota State 0 career-high, fi ve-game scoring streak. Prior to last weekend, Smith had scored a point UW shut out an Opp. at home: 12/27/08 - UW 5, UAH 0 in all fi ve of his games played this season after collecting four assists last weekend UW shut out an Opp. on road: 10/23/09 - UW 6, MSU 0 against UNH. Smith still leads the Badgers with seven assists and nine points in UW was shut out: 3/20/09 - UW 0, Denver 3 seven games played. UW was shut out on the road: 3/14/08 - UW 0, SCSU 3 Smith’s 1.29 points-per-game average leads the WCHA in all games, while his nine points are second among rear guards and share 11th among all skaters. Overtimes game: 10/17/09 - UW 1, Colorado College 1  Though only scoring six fi rst-period goals in its fi rst eight games, the Badgers UW won overtime game: 3/17/07 - UW 4, St. Cloud State 3 have allowed just three fi rst-period goals this season. UW won overtime home game: 10/7/05 - UW 3, Along those lines, the Badgers have scored the fi rst goal in six of their eight games. They are 4-2-0 in those game. Last season, the UW opened with six of its fi rst UW swept 2-game home series: 10/30-31/09, UNH eight games on the road and started 1-6-1. The Badgers were on the road fi ve of the UW swept 2-game road series: 2/6-7/09, at Minnesota fi rst seven weekends in 2008–09. Opp. swept 2-game series: 2/20/09, Denver Opp. swept 2-game home series: 2/20/09, Denver  The Badger kill went fi ve-for-six last weekend against Minnesota and Opp. swept 2-game road series: 10/17-18/08, at Denver is now 35-for-38 on the season (92.1 percent). The UW penalty kill ranks third in the nation behind Princeton (95.2 percent) and North Dakota (92.5 percent). Goaltenders UW goaltender assist: 11/28/08 - Shane Connelly vs.  Wisconsin’s defensemen fi nished last season as the second-highest scoring Michigan defense in the country with 118 points, 30 goals and a 2.95 points-per-game average UW goaltender made 50 saves: 2/8/02 - Bernd Brückler vs. and defenseman Jamie McBain fi nished as the team’s leading scorer. Colorado College The UW defensive corps currently ranks third in the nation with a 3.50 points-per-game average behind Cornell (4.33 in three games) and RIT (3.67 in nine Penalty Shots games). Badger defensemen have eight goals and 28 points through eight games. The UW attempted penalty : 10/19/96 - Darren Haley scored goal total shares third in the country behind RIT (15) and Massachusetts (10), while on Tim Lideen vs. St. Cloud State (2nd period) the point total is third behind RIT (33) and Ferris State (30). Opp. attempted penalty shot: Home: 2/13/98 - Paul Comrie scored on Graham  Six Badgers have played at least 100 games, including fi fth-year senior Ben Street (136), senior Michael Davies (120), senior Blake Geoffrion (114), senior Ben Melanson vs. Denver (3rd period) Grotting (114), senior Aaron Bendickson (112) and senior John Mitchell (105). Away: 2/27/09 - Trevor Bruess at Minnesota State failed on Shane Connelly (2nd period)  The Badgers are 0-6-11 in overtimes since ending the 2006–07 season with a Opp. scored on penalty shot: 4-3 overtime victory against St. Cloud State in the 2007 WCHA Final Five third-place 11/5/04 - Danny Irmen at Minnesota game. The Badgers already played in an overtime game this season, skating to a 1-1 scored on Bernd Bruckler (3rd period) tie against Colorado College on Oct. 17. Wisconsin last won an overtime game at home on Oct. 7, 2005 during a 3-2 Goals victory over St. Lawrence at the Kohl Center. State (3-for-7) UW scored four PPG: 10/20/07 vs. Robert Morris (4-for-8)  The Badgers boast seven seniors and nine juniors, making the squad an up- UW scored five PPG: 11/8/08 vs. Michigan Tech (5-for-7) perclass team for the fi rst time since 2005–06. UW allowed three PPG: 2/21/09 at Denver (3-for-7) UW allowed four PPG: 1/20/01 vs. Minnesota (5-for-8)  Wisconsin will be served by tri-captains in 2009–10, with senior forwards Ben UW allowed five PPG: 1/20/01 vs. Minnesota (5-for-8) Street and Blake Geoffrion, as well as junior defenseman Ryan McDonagh playing that role. The Badgers have had tri-captains on three other occasions.
