Eric Werner scored three goals and Michigan dominated Michigan Tech 6-2 to take third place in the Great Lakes Invitational at Joe Louis Arena on Sunday.

Michigan (12-7-1) took 48 shots on goal compared to the Huskies' 26. The Wolverines began the scoring at 4:12 in the first period with a goal by Brandon Rogers.

It wasn't until 17:17 in the second with Michigan up 4-0 that the Huskies (3-11-4) responded. Chris Conner notched an unassisted, short-handed goal to put Michigan Tech on the board.

The Wolverines were helped by Dwight Helminen, Jason Ryznar and T.J. Hensick who each had two assists.

Noah Ruden took the win in net for Michigan, playing 43:04, stopping 12 shots and a l - lowing one goal. Cam Ellsworth took the loss for Michigan Tech, stopping 42 shots during the game.
