Annual Operations Report 2010 ANNUAL OPERATIONS REPORT 2010 2010 ANNUAL SUMMARY During 2010, Alabama One Call continued to see an upswing in ticket volume which started at the end of 2009. For the first time in three years, we saw a positive increase in ticket volume, ending the year with a 9% increase over 2009. In addition to the increase in call volume, we also continued to see an increased interest in facility owners participating in the one call process with our membership rising from 365 to 376 by the end of the year. Alabama One Call has worked closely this year with the newly formed Alabama Damage Prevention Committee. Over the year, this committee has met several times and has made great strides in getting interested stakeholders together to discuss damage prevention efforts and ways of improvement. During 2010, a formal structure was put in place for this Committee with established officers and meeting schedules. Potential action items and goals have begun to be developed and the Committee looks forward to a productive year in 2011 as we work to develop grass root support of damage prevention initiatives. During the year, Alabama One Call, in conjunction with Common Ground Alliance (CGA), promoted a new children’s video to educate children ages 8-11 on the importance of call before you dig. Alabama One Call was fortunate to partner with Alabama’s Math, Science and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) and was able to distribute over 700 copies of the video to schools across the state to use in their AMSTI curriculum. The program coordinators were very excited about this program and say it is a perfect tie-in with their curriculum such as with the third grade classes installing a weather station each year and are now learning why they have to have the area located prior to the installation. Please contact us if you would like to help promote this program in your area schools or children community programs. Alabama One Call continued to promote the “Know What’s Below…Call 811 Before You Dig” educational campaign and worked with our member companies to provide them educational and promotional materials in order to maintain a consistent message across the state regarding call before you dig. Print and electronic media advertisements were loaded on a FTP internet site for download for our members. We also conducted a trial program with our gas distribution members to have 811 banners placed in public areas during April, as part of National Safe Digging Month. To also coincide with the National Safe Digging Month, Alabama One Call was represented in Talladega where April 25th was proclaimed as Safe Digging Day for the Talladega Superspeedway Race. In addition, three cars were associated with 811 that day with the Shell/Pennzoil #29 car driven by Kevin Harwick, the 3M #16 car driven by Greg Biffle and the Home Depot #20 car driven by Joey Logano. Both the #29 and #16 cars had 811 logos on several places on their car as well as their pit crew and crew chiefs wearing 811 hats. It was a special day when #29 Kevin Harwick won the Talladega race! The efforts of some of the national CGA sponsors providing this medium for promoting 811 to such a mass audience was a great opporunity we were fortunate to be a part of. Moving forward into 2011, Alabama One Call and its Board of Directors will continue to strive to provide quality service to both our member companies and the excavating community. We look forward to several new initiatives and opportunities to help keep the message of “Know What’s Below..Call 811 Before You Dig” in the forefront of everyone’s mind when planning any excavation activity. Office of Energy Projects February 2018 Gulf South Pipeline Company, LP Docket No. CP17-476-000 Westlake Expansion Project Environmental Assessment Washington, DC 20426 FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20426 OFFICE OF ENERGY PROJECTS In Reply Refer To: OEP/DG2E/Gas Branch 1 Gulf South Pipeline Company, LP Westlake Expansion Project Docket No. CP17-476-000 TO THE PARTY ADDRESSED: The staff of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC or Commission) has prepared an environmental assessment (EA) for the Westlake Expansion Project, proposed by Gulf South Pipeline Company, LP (Gulf South) in the above-referenced docket. Gulf South requests authorization to construct and operate one new compressor station, two new meter and regulator (M&R) stations, and about 0.3 mile of 16-inch- diameter natural gas pipeline in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The EA assesses the potential environmental effects of the construction and operation of the Westlake Expansion Project in accordance with the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act. The FERC staff concludes that approval of the proposed project, with appropriate mitigating measures, would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment. The proposed Westlake Expansion Project includes the following facilities: one new 10,000 horsepower compressor station (Westlake Compressor Station); 0.3 mile of 16-inch-diameter natural gas pipeline; one new delivery M&R station (Entergy Lake Charles M&R Station); and one new receipt M&R station (Varibus M&R Station). The FERC staff mailed copies of the EA to federal, state, and local government representatives and agencies; elected officials; Native American tribes; potentially affected landowners and other interested individuals and groups, including commenters; and newspapers and libraries in the project area.
