CUBA NACIONALES Vacunas XXXI Feria Internacional de La Habana FIHAV 2013. 1. Propuesta cubanas contra el cáncer en Feria Internacional de la Habana. Diario Granma, 5 de noviembre de 2013… Con novedosos productos farmacéuticos, entre ellos una vacuna contra el cáncer de pulmón avanzado, la empresa cubana Cimab S.A. participa hoy en la XXXI Feria Internacional de La Habana FIHAV 2013. La vacuna vaxira (racotumomab), que ostenta registros en Cuba y Argentina, y está en proceso de inclusión en el programa cubano de lucha contra el cáncer, es uno de los productos líderes de esa institución, según la gerente comercial regional de Cimab, Carmen Acosta. Se trata de una vacuna terapéutica recientemente presentada a la comunidad científica oncológica basada en un anticuerpo monoclonal de alta efectividad en el tratamiento del cáncer de pulmón, una de las patologías de mayor incidencia en la mortalidad de la población cubana y también mundial. A nivel global, el cáncer de pulmón causa cerca de 1,3 millones de defunciones cada año. Otra vacuna, registrada en 2008, contra el cáncer de pulmón de células no pequeñas, la CIMAvax-EGF, es utilizada en la atención primaria de salud en Cuba, agregó Acosta. De acuerdo con la especialista, Cimab tiene registrados en Cuba cinco productos, así como más de 80 registros sanitarios en diferentes países, además de más de 385 patentes otorgadas y una cantera de proyectos para nuevos fármacos en diferentes etapas de desarrollo y ensayos preclínicos. En la cartera de esa empresa destacan dos productos biogenéricos, la eritropoyetina humana recombinante para tratar la anemia y el leukoCIM o filgastrim, usado en pacientes oncológicos para acelerar la recuperación de la neutropenia después de la quimioterapia y en algunos enfermos de VIH-sida, para incrementar su inmunidad. Otros productos innovadores son el CIMAher (nimotuzumab), un anticuerpo monoclonal para el tratamiento del cáncer de cuello, cabeza, sistema nervioso central y tumores de esófago, acotó Acosta. Cimab S.A. comercializa en más de 30 destinos, con un incremento contínuo en sus facturaciones, dijo la gerente de Cimab, que presenta un stand en la Feria Internacional de La Habana FIHAV 2013, del 3 al 9 de noviembre, en el recinto expositivo habanero de Expocuba. A la bolsa comercial de carácter general más importante de Cuba y el Caribe, y una de las más representativas en América Latina, asisten unos mil 400 empresarios de 64 naciones. DIARIO GRANMA, 5 DE NOVIEMBRE DE 2013… IRIS DE ARMAS PADRINO … LA HABANA… La vacuna terapéutica cubana para el cáncer de pulmón avanzado, de células no pequeñas, Vaxira, desarrollada por el Centro de Inmunología Molecular (CIM), ha mostrado resultados alentadores de supervivencia y mejora la calidad de vida en pacientes con esa enfermedad. En exclusiva a la Agencia de Información Nacional, la doctora Alina Hernández, gerente comercial y de negocios de la empresa comercializadora de productos y servicios del CIM, anunció que el principio activo es el anticuerpo monoclonal Racotumomab, es segura, no tiene efectos secundarios adversos, y posee registro en Cuba y Argentina. La especialista de esa institución, perteneciente al grupo empresarial BioCubaFarma, explicó que actualmente se desarrolla un ensayo clínico multinacional fase III, el cual permitirá comercializar la vacuna en Brasil, y el sudeste de Asia, mientras que próximamente se extenderá a México. Aclaró que el inmunógeno se emplea en la fase cuatro del cáncer de pulmón, el más frecuente y de peor pronóstico entre las más de 200 localizaciones de esa maligna dolencia, que constituye la primera causa de muerte en Cuba desde el año 2012. Dijo que la Vaxira se suministra de forma subcutánea, puede ser empleada por largo tiempo, en dependencia de la evolución de los pacientes, y aunque no elimina totalmente la enfermedad, mejora el pronóstico de vida de los enfermos, que era muy bajo antes de que apareciera este producto de la biotecnología cubana. Remarcó que, el CIM posee otra vacuna terapéutica contra el cáncer de pulmón: la CIMAVAX-EGF, que se introdujo en la Atención Primaria de Salud, y ahora se conduce un ensayo clínico fase III, e iniciará próximamente otro fase cuatro. Aseveró que, está registrada en Cuba, Perú y Paraguay, y se hacen pruebas clínicas en Europa. Con casi 20 años de fundado, el Centro de Inmunología Molecular realiza la investigación básica, el desarrollo y la fabricación de sus productos con estándares regulatorios de buenas prácticas, certificados por inspecciones cubanas y extranjeras, por lo que es una instalación científica de ciclo cerrado. En la actualidad conduce 75 ensayos clínicos simultáneos con 13 productos en Cuba y otros 12 países. En la XXXI edición de la Feria Internacional de La Habana (FIHAV), que se desarrolla hasta el sábado en el recinto ferial de EXPOCUBA, el CIM también expone el anticuerpo monoclonal Nimotuzumab, ampliamente utilizado en Cuba en el control de tumores malignos de cabeza, cuello y esófago. Expertos del centro científico disertarán mañana en ese escenario comercial acerca del impacto de la biotecnología en el control del cáncer, y los productos terapéuticos innovadores. FIHAV acoge a mil 400 expositores de 65 países, y entre las entidades cubanas sobresale BioCubaFarma, integrado por 38 entidades dedicadas a la investigación, desarrollo y producción de productos farmacéuticos y biotecnológicos. Con el objetivo de producir y comercializar medicamentos y servicios de alta tecnología para la salud de la población cubana, esta agrupación de 38 empresas biofarmacéuticas tiene una alianza estratégica con los Servicios Médicos de la isla. BioCubaFarma, creada el pasado año y asistente por primera vez a FIHAV, promociona en sus stands un paquete que contiene 11 vacunas profilácticas fabricadas en Cuba, señaló a Prensa Latina el licenciado Adrián Heredia, jefe del departamento Comercial de ese organismo. Otros de los programas tiene por objetivo la pesquisa y tratamiento de la diabetes y sus complicaciones como la úlcera del pie diabético, así como para la prevención temprana y el tratamiento de diversas patologías del cáncer. También, para la detección de malformaciones y enfermedades heredometabólicas, y novedosos equipos para el diagnóstico y evaluación de diferentes enfermedades. El grupo BioCubaFarma elabora alrededor de 560 productos biotecnológicos y farmacéuticos, de acuerdo con la ingeniera María de los Ángeles Jiménez, especialista de la Dirección Política Comercial, Negocios y Colaboración Internacional de la empresa. Según Jiménez, 33 de esos productos son vacunas contra enfermedades infecciosas, 33 productos oncológicos, 18 cardiovasculares y siete para enfrentar otras patologías. La XXXI Feria Internacional de La Habana, que sesionará hasta el 9 de este mes en Expocuba, el mayor recinto expositivo de la isla, tiene la presencia de unos mil 400 empresarios de 64 naciones. El evento sirve para promover las relaciones comerciales de Cuba con el mundo y así como para contribuir a la diversificación del comercio exterior cubano. La doctora Sandra Cutiño, directora de Atención a Pacientes en Cuba de Servicios Médicos Cubanos, dijo a Prensa Latina que esta entidad comercializadora del ministerio de Salud Pública dispone de más de 150 programas que se comercializan actualmente en más de 100 países de varios continentes. Los programas más significativos, acotó la especialista, responden a los principales problemas de salud a nivel mundial. Entre estos se encuentran la cirugía oncológica, de médula espinal, cirugía de cadera y rodilla. Igualmente, tratamientos para las afecciones oftalmológicas, programas de calidad de vida, diálisis, restauración neurológica y rehabilitación, entre otros. De acuerdo con la especialista, la alianza con BioCubaFarma toma en cuenta los resultados de fármacos como el Herberprot-P, para el tratamiento del pie diabético, las vacunas para el cáncer de pulmón y la detección precoz de la sordera. También, la prevención de enfermedades con vacunas profilácticas, el diagnóstico y evaluación de diferentes enfermedades (cardiología, neurología), con novedosos equipos médicos.
