He considered for a moment building a glorious Palace, but then thought that the Universe already is the most glorious Palace and Temple of all, why would he need another one? All of a sudden, he felt completely satisfied with Life. He had everything he had ever dreamed of having. He poured himself a glass of mushroom wine and flew into the Heart of the Universe. He was Home at last. ~ King Spiros 19 For me it helps to think that on one level nothing actually exists. To say it poetically, you exist as a thought in the Heart and Mind of God, and nothing else is really real. Everything is as if essentially empty. Look at your Life, how it is flowing from one moment to another ceaselessly. What is really real in all this? This helps me be free. - Spiros Cogan 20 I have credentials, man, don't fuck with me. King Spiros 21 And as I sat there in the Heart of the Queendom of Plomari I heard the Queen say Please don't go, I want you to stay, Don't just walk past this inner core as if it means nothing, Become one with it instead, settle here, I have prepared this Home for us, a Home for our souls... And so I stayed with her, I stayed with the Queen in the Heart of Plomari... ~ King Spiros of Plomari 22 SEX HERSELF IN HIGH PERSON ou are a god, not a human being. Instant orgasm, then I swirled around and. I just woke up here. Here? Yes, the most marvelous experience of my Life so far. It is not a place really, it is more an experience. It is the experience of the new Eden, what we call Plomari. In my dreams I saw one of my wives, Queen Mari of Plomari, Ywalking naked in a beautiful Garden, with a snake round her neck. She sat down by a piano and played a little melody, then left through the greenery. She said nothing to me, but when I woke up I woke up with her in the Garden of Eden, or as we prefer to call it: Plomari. Now I'm sitting here naked, dumbstruck from what has just happened, but incredibly happy. In fact I don't think I have ever been this happy before. Maybe I have never even known what true happiness can be until now. Suddenly my Life makes sense, fully. Suddenly everything is clear. We were going to hold a wedding, me and my wives. We had planned it for many years. Being a royal family it was to be our Royal Wedding, the year would be 2018 and it would go on for at least months, together with honeymoon for as long as we wished and needed. But after this... Well me and my wives are already done with the wedding two days into it. We are married and happier than ever and can not wait to begin our new life together here in this Paradise! The day before I woke up I had written the following on the wedding invitation that we sent out to the people we wanted to invite: We have reached the end step in our Plomarian alchemical process, the last step. The last step is to make our Plomari Paradise into a living, breathing reality. We have outlined the structure of it, to say it simply Plomari is the name of our new Paradise. The structure is ready, now we 23 must blow life into our Paradise. So to say we must turn on the fountains of the Palace so the water flows - they mustn't stand unused - we must make the blood flow in our new reality. It is time to walk naked into our new updated Garden of Eden, Plomari. Yes? This? Here? The end? Yes, I'll take this one, please.

Mancuso © 2018 Steven Robert Bellavia All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Andrew Schocket, Advisor This dissertation examines the experiences of the final Cold War generation. I define this cohort as a subset of Generation X born between 1965 and 1971. The primary focus of this dissertation is to study the ways this cohort interacted with the three messages found embedded within the Cold War us vs. them binary. These messages included an emphasis on American exceptionalism, a manufactured and heightened fear of World War III, as well as the othering of the Soviet Union and its people. I begin the dissertation in the 1970s, - during the period of détente- where I examine the cohort’s experiences in elementary school. There they learned who was important within the American mythos and the rituals associated with being an American. This is followed by an examination of 1976’s bicentennial celebration, which focuses on not only the planning for the celebration but also specific events designed to fulfill the two prime directives of the celebration. As the 1980s came around not only did the Cold War change but also the cohort entered high school. Within this stage of this cohorts education, where I focus on the textbooks used by the cohort and the ways these textbooks reinforced notions of patriotism and being an American citizen.

    humanities Article Political Messages in African Music: Assessing Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Lucky Dube and Alpha Blondy Uche Onyebadi Department of Journalism, Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX 76129, USA; [email protected] Received: 30 September 2018; Accepted: 30 November 2018; Published: 6 December 2018 Abstract: Political communication inquiry principally investigates institutions such as governments and congress, and processes such as elections and political advertising. This study takes a largely unexplored route: An assessment of political messages embedded in music, with a focus on the artistic works of three male African music icons—Fela Anikulapo-Kuti (Nigeria), Lucky Dube (South Africa), and Alpha Blondy (Côte d’Ivoire). Methodologically, a purposive sample of the lyrics of songs by the musicians was textually analyzed to identify the themes and nuances in their political messaging. Framing was the theoretical underpinning. This study determined that all three musicians were vocal against corruption, citizen marginalization, and a cessation of wars and bloodshed in the continent. TOBY HEYS A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements of Liverpool John Moores University for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy March 2011 1 ABSTRACT This study is a trans-disciplinary and trans-historical investigation into civilian and battlefield contexts in which speaker systems have been utilised by the military-industrial and military-entertainment complexes to apply pressure to mass social groupings and the individuated body. Drawing on authors such as historian/sociologist Michel Foucault, economist Jacques Attali, philosopher Michel Serres, political geographer/urban planner Edward Soja, musician/sonic theorist Steve Goodman, and cultural theorist/urbanist Paul Virilio, this study engages a wide range of texts to orchestrate its arguments. Conducting new strains of viral theory that resonate with architectural, neurological, and political significance, this research provides new and original analysis about the composition of waveformed geography. Ultimately, this study listens to the ways in which the past and current utilisation of sonic, infrasonic, and ultrasonic frequencies as weapons, apparatus for psychological manipulation, and instruments of physiological influence, by industrial, civilian, entertainment, and military organisations, predict future techniques of socio­ spatialised organisation. In chapter one it is argued that since the inception of wired radio speaker systems into U.S. industrial factories in 1922, the development of sonic strategies based primarily on the scoring of architectonic spatiality, cycles of repetition, and the enveloping dynamics of surround sound can be traced to the sonic torture occurring in Guantanamo Bay during the first decade of the twenty-first century.

In this paper, haram, will be defined as forbidden unless specified otherwise. 2Though music has never been absent from Islamic cultures, it has never been completely embraced either. The stance on music in the Islamic world, however, is changing along with many other things that were once standard practice or tradition.

Writing novels is a way to encompass this-this something. Toni Morrison (Mckay, 152) In an interview with Christina Davis, Toni Morrison describes her writing as “aural literature . because I do hear it” (230). Beloved is a particularly rich example of Morrison’s “aural literature”, literature which sounds and resounds. In an interview with Paul Gilroy, Morrison elaborates that these sounds are primarily musical: “My parallel is always the music, because all of the strategies of the art are there . music is the mirror that gives me the necessary clarity . .” (81). In Beloved, music is the medium through which the characters express their innermost painful memories, memories otherwise unable to be expressed in language.
