Boni Belle Hitting and Practice Facility Ground was broken in the spring of 2010, the foundation was poured in July and in April 2011 the new Coastal Carolina baseball/softball hitting and practice facility opened. During the 2012 season, the structure was named the Boni Belle Hitting and Practice Facility. The $1.2 million facility, built beyond the centerfield wall of Spring Brooks Stadium, has space for a full, artificial turf practice infield (17,424 square feet) with as many as 12 hitting cages featuring a mechanical netting system that can be raised and lowered accordingly from the ceiling. The covered facility will allow both programs to practice in case of inclement weather, or just have as an alternate area to give the student-athletes more area for individual instruction. “This hitting facility is one of a kind,” said head coach Gary Gilmore. “It really has no rival. This is the new standard for facilities across the country. The flexibility to have multiple things going on at once and the versatility of the building will allow us to get a lot accomplished on a daily basis, regardless of the weather.”
