Sonoma Mountain High SARC Sonoma Mountain High School School Accountability Report Card Reported Using Data from the 2019-2020 School Year Published During 2020-2021 By February 1 of each year, every school in California is required by state law to publish a School Accountability Report Card (SARC). The SARC contains information about the condition and performance of each California public school. Under the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) all local educational agencies (LEAs) are required to prepare a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), which describes how they intend to meet annual school-specific goals for all pupils, with specific activities to address state and local priorities. The small school is able to provide a program that encompasses all curricular needs for students to earn the 220 credits necessary for their high school diploma. Students at the site have the opportunity to co-enroll in elective classes at Casa Grande High School, as well as access the food services program and the Career Center at the comprehensive site. Sonoma Mountain students are afforded the opportunity to participate in the comprehensive school’s athletic programs, dances and other functions and events. Students are supported in concurrent enrollments with Santa Rosa Junior College and Petaluma Adult School. Online credit recovery is available on a limited basis. Site based mental health counseling is provided by a licensed MFT and a counseling intern. Academic advisory is provided by the teachers every six weeks (at a minimum). Truancy and truancy issues are addressed by the site and district through Student Attendance Review Teams (SART) and the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB). SARB meetings are held once monthly at the district office and SART meetings are held at the site as necessary. 2019-20 School Accountability Report Card for Sonoma Mountain High School Page 2 of 13 SMHS is designed as an alternative for high school students who have not been successful at the traditional high school, putting them at risk of dropping out. Students are enrolled in Sonoma Mountain High School on a voluntary basis. Students who were disconnected from the traditional school, resulting in attendance issues or problems earning sufficient academic credit, might particularly benefit from the program because of the emphasis on daily attendance and the opportunity to complete additional work to make up lost credits. Our academic approach integrates standards based instruction, technology and the development of 21st century skills. Modesto is in the center of one of the greatest agricultural areas in the nation; the fertile Stanislaus County Valley.

On the morning of October 9th, the Valley Emergency Readiness Group (V.E.R.G.) received an early notification of an influx of fire refugees into the parking lot of the Community Center. Executive What was once Zoila’s Daycare room has been renovated by separating the previous Director Dave Cort telephoned V.E.R.G., advising of the situation and asking for help. As V.E.R.G. room into two. Where once there was one huge room there are now two beautiful co-coordinators, Brian McCarthy and I mobilized the full resources of our local organization, rooms: A friendly Living Room area using one-third of the old room and the remaining responding to the Community Center and applying our particular expertise to an uncertain and two-thirds room a separate meeting room, each with lifted ceilings, pristine white walls, evolving situation. A comprehensive, public high school, Downey is located in the heart of Modesto and as had an important place in the local landscape of Modesto over the last 60+ years.
