4th High – Level Meeting on Tourism Cooperation Between China and CEECs

1. Places and dates

The 4th High-Level Meeting of Ministers in charge of Tourism of the China – CEECs Tourism Cooperation platform will take place in the City of Dubrovnik from 18 to 20 September 2018 at the Dubrovnik Palace hotel. The participants of the HLM will be ministers and high-ranking delegates responsible for tourism from the sixteen CEE countries and China.

The official opening is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 19 September, starting at 9:30 am in hotel Dubrovnik Palace, with the welcome reception held the day before, on 18 September in Sponza Palace at 19:00 pm. Parallel sessions and workshops are to be held on 19 September in the afternoon. More detailed working and social programme, agenda and practical information will follow shortly.

2. Registration

Participants are kindly requested to complete the registration form using the link Registration by Thursday, 30 August. In order to help us make the necessary arrangements for transfers, please provide information on your travel schedule, chosen hotel, as well as about persons who may be accompanying you.

4. Entry formalities

Participants are requested to consult the following website of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia to check whether they need a visa to enter the country: http://www.mvep.hr/en/consular-information/visas/visa-requirements-overview/ .

Pursuant to the Government’s Decision, starting with 22 July 2014, the Republic of Croatia applies the Decision No 565/2014/EU. All third-country nationals who are holders of valid Schengen documents, as well as national visas and residence permits of Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Romania do not require an additional (Croatian) visa for Croatia. The above-mentioned documents must have a validity period that covers the duration of stay and must still be valid at the moment of leaving Croatia.

Participants, who require a visa, have to submit their applications at the Croatian Embassy or Consulate in their countries.

5. Working and social programme

The detailed working and social programme, as well as the agenda are to be sent in due time. Working language of the HLM is English with simultaneous translation to Chinese and Croatian.

On 18 September, a Dubrovnik City Tour will be organised, optional for those arriving in the morning that day. The accompanying persons will be able to join the same sightseeing tour on 19 September in the afternoon. On 20 September, an excursion to Konavle and Cavtat is scheduled, starting at 9:00 am.

6. Travel options and transfers

Distance from Croatian airports to Dubrovnik: Airport 608 kilometres, Airport 343 km, Split Airport 241 km. Dubrovnik Airport (http://inetsrv.airport-dubrovnik.hr/index.php/en/) is located 24 kilometres from the hotel Dubrovnik Palace (venue).

It is strongly advised to fly directly to Dubrovnik to avoid long land transfers. Transfers will be provided only from Dubrovnik Airport to the hotels listed in the Information note (arrival and departure).

7. Accommodation

The participants are requested to make their own reservations by directly contacting the hotels, indicating their status as participants of the HLM (reference: HLMChina+16). Certain amount of rooms are kept for participants and will be offered at discounted rates, so we strongly recommend to book your hotel as soon as possible (since September is still high season for Dubrovnik). Recommended hotels and instructions for booking the rooms are listed below.

8. Transfers

Transfers will be provided to the 4th HLM participants only from/to the Dubrovnik Airport and the designated hotels as well as for the social functions as indicated in the registration.

9. Practical information

 Official language: Croatian

 Local currency and exchange rates: the official currency of Croatia is the kuna (HRK). The applicable exchange rate can be found at the following link: http://www.hnb.hr/en/core- functions/monetary-policy/exchange-rate-list/exchange-rate-list

 Banks are open from 8:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday. Exchange offices can be found all around Dubrovnik, and are clearly marked. ATMs are also available around the city. All shops accept major credit cards.

 Weather: the temperature in Dubrovnik in September ranges between 24 and 31 degrees during the day. A raincoat or an umbrella is also advisable in case of rain.

 Medical service: Dubrovnik has an extensive network of health centres (primary care services) and hospitals. There are no vaccination requirements for international visitors.
