Holgate September - 5 October 2018. PAST PRESIDENT From its inception in 1954, the Collegium has been a very special international group of friends pursuing research excellence across Stephen J. With the genetic and environmental factors Thomas Bieber initiating allergy and the immunological and other factors driving the evolution of its different organ manifestations becoming ever clearer, there has never been a better opportunity to bring together researchers in these fields to explore mechanisms, prevention and COUNCIL MEMBERS novel therapeutic approaches. Founded in 124 BC, Palma is a resort city and capital of the Spanish island of Mallorca (Majorca), in the western Mediterranean. The massive Santa María Cathedral, a Gothic landmark begun in the 13th century, overlooks the Bay of Palma. The adjacent Almudaina is a Moorish-style Arab fortress converted to a royal residence. West of the city, hilltop Bellver Castle is a medieval fortress with a distinctive circular shape. Currency The currency used in Spain is the Euro (EUR). There are ATMs widely available for cash withdrawal. Credit cards are also accepted at most hotels, restaurants and shops. The standard electrical voltage in Spain is 220 Volts and 50 Hertz. Language The official language of the 32nd Symposium is English.     Letters to the Editor In Memoriam Professor De Weck The speciality of allergology recently suffered the loss of Professor Alain de Weck. For almost 30 years, Professor de Weck was the Director of the Institute of Clinical Immunology and Allergy at the University of Bern, Switzerland, where he started his research in immunopathology and the dynamics of hypersensitivity in drug allergy (penicillin), before moving on to study the immunological mechanisms of allergic reactions at the cellular level. His work was reÁ ected in major studies that generated more than 500 articles, as well as in several books and publications. The research led by Professor de Weck played a key role in promoting allergology throughout the world. Professor de Weck was also an energetic promoter of allergology as an academic discipline. retirement in 1993 and until 4 years ago, he devoted himself Professor de Weck devoted part of his time to international to research, together with my colleague Professor Sanz, with societies such as the International Union of Immunology whom he published more than 20 articles.
