CATHOLIC CHURCH AWARDS

Did you know that your Cub Scout or Boy Scout can earn Catholic Religious Emblems in the Diocese of La Crosse? The Catholic Religious emblems provide Scouts with advancement in spiritual growth and religious knowledge of their Catholic faith. Scouts can begin earning them in first grade and continue on through high school. With the help of parents, guardians and religious emblems counselors, Scouts become more aware of God’s presence in their daily lives, especially within their homes and communities. Here are the religious emblems available to Catholics.

Cub Scouts Light of Christ This emblem is given to Tiger Cubs and Cub Scouts (through Wolf rank) for advancement in spiritual growth and religious knowledge.

Parvuli Dei This is a Christian family emblem to recognize Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts for advancement in religious and spiritual formation.

Boy Scouts Ad Altare Dei The purpose of earning the Ad Altare Dei emblem is to equip the Scout to take his place in the world as a maturing Catholic and a maturing American. Gene Kolaczkowski will be teaching an Ad Altare Dei class at St. Patrick’s Parish Center in Onalaska beginning in September. Space is limited. Call Gene at 783-1318. Bob Cooper will also be teaching an Ad Altare Dei class beginning Sunday, October 7th at 6 pm in the gathering space of the Cathedral in La Crosse. Call Bob at 784-3156.

Pope Pius XII Scouts of high-school age and young men and women who are Venturers are eligible for this award. John Leisgang will be teaching a Pope Pius XII class on Sunday, October 7th at 6 pm in the gathering space of the Cathedral. Call John at 782-8342.

If you are interested in your Cub Scout or Boy Scout earning their Catholic Religious emblems or would like to be a part of the Catholic Committee on Scouting, please call Kelly Wilde at (608) 317-8977.

Other faiths have similar religious awards for all Scouting levels. Check with your local council service center or contact the religious organization directly to obtain the curriculum booklets.
