To oddBy lynleefWhen I first started reading this book the author was upbeat and positive and then as the pages went on I saw a very critical, blunt individual that did not have very flexible thinking. Some of the things this Cheiro said were just so cold. At one point he stated that if the sun line was on it's own mount with not connection to any line, that success would come so late in life it wouldn't even be worth having. REALLY? Well that positive and cheery! Another instant he stated that Even if you had the the best sun line if you had a hollow hand it wouldn't do you any good! His exact words were "On a hollow hand, the line of Sun loses all power and it's promises are never fulfilled" REALLY? So every one with a "hollow hand" your life will be crap! There were many more digs and cruel criticism else wear. Also there were things he stated that were just not true, things he said that should be a certain way in my life that just weren't. But in all fairness I will say that he did clear some things up for me like the Double head line and his scientific explanation of palmistry is spot on. The book wasn't all bad but his cold doom and gloom view of people with difficult hands don't fly with me. Out dated thinking. Oh and the missing "plates" was irritating also. But I guess you get what you pay for and payed nothing so I got just about that!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Reading palmistryBy CustomerI was disappointed on reading this book because it did not have the old analysis format. Some the information was helpful. I guess i should read it again maybe second time around will be better. Since I read my books on a tablet, the ebook can't access the plates, so i don't know what they are exhibiting on the plates (plate IV) and et cetera . No appendix neither in hopes of accessing the plate. There are no pictures, which I suspect are the plates.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. no imagesBy ROEwithout images its hard to imagine what the book is talking about. it refers to images but the kindle doesnt pick them up. so is it the book or the kindle? i dont know nor do i have the time to continue to find out. William John Warner (also known as Count Louis Hamon according to some sources), popularly known as Cheiro (November 1, 1866 ndash; October 8, 1936), was an Irish astrologer and colorful occult figure of the early 20th century. About the AuthorWilliam John Warner, known as Cheiro, (November 1, 1866 ndash; October 8, 1936) was an Irish astrologer and colorful occult figure of the early 20th century. His sobriquet, Cheiro, derives from the word cheiromancy, meaning palmistry. He was a self-described clairvoyant who taught palmistry, astrology, and Chaldean numerology. During his career, he was celebrated for using these forms of divination to make personal predictions for famous clients and to foresee world events. Cheiro was born in a village outside Dublin, Ireland. He took the name Count Louis Hamon (or Count Leigh de Hamong). As mentioned in his memoirs, Cheiro acquired his expertise in India. As a teenager, he traveled to the Bombay port of Apollo Bunder. There, he met his Guru, an Indian Brahmin, who took him to his village in the valley of the Konkan region of Maharashtra. Later Cheiro was permitted by Brahmans to study an ancient book that has many studies on hands; the pages of the book were made of human skin and written with gold and it is still guarded and protected with great care. After studying thoroughly for two years, he returned to London and started his career as a palmist. Cheiro was reluctant to marry but was aware that he was destined to marry late in life. This did happen after a woman took care of him during a serious illness. A separate chapter is devoted to this matter in his memoirs. Cheiro had a wide following of famous European and American clients during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He read palms and told the fortunes of famous celebrities like Mark Twain, W. T. Stead, Sarah Bernhardt, Mata Hari, Oscar Wilde, Grover Cleveland, Thomas Edison, the Prince of Wales, General Kitchener, William Ewart Gladstone, and Joseph Chamberlain. He documented his sittings with these clients by asking them to sign a guest book he kept for the purpose, in which he encouraged them to comment on their experiences as subjects of his character analyses and predictions. Of the Prince of Wales, he wrote that "I would not be surprised if he did not give up everything, including his right to be crowned, for the woman he loved." Cheiro also predicted that the Jews would return to Palestine and the country would again be called Israel.
