Breaking News Updates WITI broke into and/or preempted regularly-scheduled programming on numerous occasions during the period covered by this report in order to bring its viewers breaking news or disaster information. This coverage included extended reporting on tornado warnings and other severe weather, amber alerts, school closings, and other emergencies. In addition, WITI regularly inserted severe weather crawls into its programming in an effort to provide its viewers with vitally important local weather updates as quickly as possible. Public Affairs Programming WITI broadcasts has undertaken extensive projects like the Bully Project – a groundbreaking program designed to better understand the problem of school bullying and to develop strategies to reduce it. The project works closely with area schools, students, parents, teachers, mental-health professionals and local leaders to create a community-based program that addresses a community-wide problem. In early April 2004, more than 13,000 students and hundreds of teachers from 63 schools completed detailed surveys about bullying. Survey results were released in May 2004, providing important information about school bullying, its possible causes and potential solutions. More than 300 teachers attended the FOX 6 Bully Project forum on September 20, 2004. It was a free two-hour session with national experts. FOX 6 has aired more than 300 PSAs supporting the Bully Project and a series of news stories have been broadcast on the subject. In addition, WITI profiles a child every week as part of its Adoption Connection series and promotes other local philanthropic projects. WITI also locally produces several sports and holiday specials covering items of interest to the community. Political Coverage WITI has devoted extensive coverage to political issues important to its viewers. During a sample two-week time period, for example, WITI aired pieces on the presidential campaign and several local campaigns. The station also provided coverage of local debates and profiled 10 candidates for mayor. Exhibit B attached hereto includes a detailed list of WITI's political programming specials as well as the political issues covered in the station's local newscasts. Public Service Announcements WITI makes its air-time throughout the broadcast day available to public service announcements for a variety of causes, such as: 2 • FOX 6 Salutes Black History Month. Spots profiled local African-Americans named on local buildings including Sarah Scott Middle School, Isaac Coggs Health Center, and Felmers Chaney Center. The series of PSAs started airing in January 2004. • FOX 6 Be a Reader. Series continued with a focus on summer reading. PSAs were created encouraging kids to read throughout the summer. • When James Ford and Jas Shaw Met at Manchester University in the Late 1990S, They Never Imagined They'd End up Creating a Human Synthesiser
When James Ford and Jas Shaw met at Manchester University in the late 1990s, they never imagined they'd end up creating a human synthesiser. But in their very earliest musical experiments together, something was set in motion which would lead to one of the most unusual careers in British music: one which has seen their creative mission transform again and again, inventing entirely new formats for music-making along the way. So perhaps the weaving of rich layers of human vocal tonalities sung by The Deep Throat Choir into the techno framework of their fifth studio album Murmurations isn't quite such an unexpected turn of events. In fact, they've been connecting the human voice with electronic sound since they first founded the band Simian with Simon Lord and Alex McNaughten. Simian was, in Jas's words, about “trying to show you could make band music with songs and harmonies but be into Autechre too". Named after "Simeon", the home-made early synth rig of early electronic experimentalists The Silver Apples, the band combined Crosby, Stills & Nash harmonies with hypnotic Krautrock rhythms, cosmic analogue synthesiser swooshes and an unmistakeable clubber's sense of groove - and somehow in the middle of all that managed to find something extraordinarily accessible. They were signed to a major label subsidiary in 2000, and made two albums that stand up in their own right now. But, Jas continues, it was "just at the moment the world was into the Strokes and White Stripes and straight-ahead rock music," and their rich, baroque tapestries of song and sound didn't reach the audience their ambition and beauty deserved.

  • Parked! How Congress' Misplaced Priorities Are Trashing Our National
Dear Taxpayer, Visitors to national parks have been threatened with trespassing charges, obstructed from paying their respects at a memorial to those who lost their lives in service to our country, and turned away from other National Park Service sites closed due to a lack of funding. All of this began occurring before the government shutdown in October. Perhaps more than any other part of the federal government, our National Park System has become the symbol of Washington, DC dysfunction. These cherished national treasures, which were entrusted to the National Park Service to be preserved and protected, have instead been neglected or abused for political gamesmanship. Long before the government shutdown and sequestration, congressional shortsightedness and bureaucratic mismanagement were already plaguing our national parks. Barricaded parks across the country exposed the calamity in Washington in 2013, but the National Park System has long been a microcosm of the irresponsible and misplaced priorities within the entire federal budget. Just as important programs like Medicare and Social Security have been raided for decades to pay for politicians’ pet projects, Washington has also plundered the National Park Service budget to create new parks and programs with little national significance. And as the lack of budget discipline has driven up the national debt and jeopardized the solvency of retirement programs and our nation’s future, the misplaced priorities within the parks budget are endangering the care of the very sites we all revere. Our elected representatives have been too focused on their own parochial political interests to see the state of disrepair that has befallen some of our greatest national treasures.

At a press conference in Washington with FCC Commissioner Jonathan S. Adelstein, the groups called for a crackdown on stations that present corporate-sponsored videos as genuine news to an unsuspecting audience. CMD, which unveiled the results of a 10-month investigation, found scores of local stations slipping commercial “video news releases,” or VNRs, into their regular news programming. The new multimedia report released today includes footage of 36 separate VNRs and their broadcast as “news” by TV stations and networks nationwide, including those in the nation’s biggest markets. The full report -- “Fake TV News: Widespread and Undisclosed” -- is now available complete with VNR and TV station video footage at www.prwatch.org/fakenews/execsummary.

  • Closet Androgynes Are Redefining Our Insane Society
Closet Androgynes are Redefining Our Insane Society by Jeremy James As previous papers in this series have shown, androgyny – the blending or suppression of sexual characteristics – is a major aspect of the New World Order agenda. The clear Biblical distinction between male and female is being deliberately blurred by the big media corporations. Movies, television, radio, magazines, and popular music have all been primed to present a gender-neutral, androgynous, or multi-gender message, where one's sexual identity is grounded, not in biology, but in social, cultural and personal values. This is part of a deliberate program to disrupt the natural development of gender- related emotions and behaviors in young people. Stories, messages and images – which would formerly have projected a clear distinction between male and female actors – are now laden with ambiguity. The natural development of our children is under attack. Satan hates your kids, just as he hates you. Today he has a new and powerful tool at his disposal, a co-ordinated international media machine which, in the face of only token parental control, has direct access to our children. The influence exerted by this monster is quite astonishing. Our children are being exposed to images and ideas that are more complex, more intense, and more extreme than anything known by our own generation. As a result they are learning values and forming opinions which have no immediate connection with the world around them. Their understanding of reality is being reshaped, not through personal experience and parental guidance, but through a system of programmed normality . 1 We saw a chilling example of this in May, 2015, when the people of Ireland voted overwhelmingly to amend the Constitution to include same-sex couples within its definition of marriage.
