More surprisingly, no athletes were listed among the 300 or so entries, either in a generalist or specific category: perhaps, because of the significance of amateurism as a prevailing ethos in sport until the 1960s. Förbundskapten Thomas Dennerby har tagit ut truppen till Algarve Cup, där det svenska laget ska slipa formen och få tuff matchning inför fortsättningen av VM-kvalet. - Det är en viktigare säsong än många tror. Det räcker inte att vinna gruppen i VM-kvalet, utan det blir play-off mot en annan gruppsegrare för att nå VM. Man ska också komma ihåg att VM 2011 är kval till OS i London 2012, säger Thomas Dennerby. Wikman kommer närmast från Linköpings FC som han förde till SM-guld, Svenska cupen-guld samt seger i Super- cupfinalen 2009. - Det här ska bli jätteskoj, och det är en ära att få vara med och arbeta med damlandslaget, säger Wikman. Lilie Persson som är assisterande kapten ska vara föräldraledig under delar av säsongen, men även om hon kommer tillbaka under året så blir Wikman kvar året ut. - Vi vill ha kontinuitet kring damlandslaget hela det här viktiga året, där vi ska kvala in till VM i Tyskland 2011 som i sin tur ger oss en möjlig biljett till OS-spel i London 2012.

    PASSNINGEN Nr 28 - 27 oktober 2008 HELTIDSDOMARE FÖRESLÅS I SVENSK FOTBOLL 2009-2011 Svenska Fotbollförbundets styrelse har tagit ett inriktningsbeslut om att erbjuda ett antal elitdomare heltidsanställning som fotbollsdomare under åren 2009-2011. Underlaget till beslutet har arbetats fram av en arbetsgrupp bestående av Svenska Fotboll- förbundets Domarkommitté, Elitdomareklubben och Föreningen Svensk Elitfotboll (SEF). - Det är naturligtvis en mycket värdefull möjlighet att även domarna kan koncentrera sig fullt ut inför matcher, såsom spelare och andra inblandade i elitmatcherna. Flera av våra domare har idag heltidsarbete att sköta parallellt. Det innebär att det blir mycket frånvaro och en hel del pusslande för att få yrkesliv, domaruppdraget och ett civilt liv att gå ihop, säger Domarkommitténs ordförande Bosse Karlsson. - Vi vet ännu inte hur många av våra domare som är beredda att under tre års tid lämna sina yrken för att bli domare på heltid, det återstår att se efter diskussioner med domarna. Men signalen alla inom svensk fotboll sänder genom inriktningsbeslutet ser vi domare som en milstolpe i sig. Kraven ökar på domarna och det här är ett sätt för oss att kunna förebe- reda oss och förhoppningsvis bli ännu bättre, säger Bosse vidare. Ekonomiskt ska projektet finansieras bland annat genom att SvFF skjuter till 5 miljoner kronor från det överskott som uppkommer efter sommarens EM-deltagande för Svenska herrlandslaget. De allsvenska föreningarna skjuter via SEF till resterande finansiering. Utöver domarskapet (såväl som huvuddomare som fjärdedomare) ska man bland annat delta i utbildningar, vara med i angelägna projekt och vara mentorer för unga domare. - Arbetsbefattningen är klar och nu hoppas vi på att vara klara före nyår med diskussioner- na med domarna så att vi har allt klart i god tid före säsongsstart 2009, slutar Domarkom- mittens ordförande Bosse Karlsson.
