Summary of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Suspended-Sediment Loads and Trends Measured at the Chesapeake Bay Nontidal Network Stations for Water Years 2009–2018 Prepared by Douglas L. Moyer and Joel D. Blomquist, U.S. Geological Survey, March 2, 2020 The Chesapeake Bay nontidal network (NTN) currently consists of 123 stations throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Stations are located near U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) stream-flow gages to permit estimates of nutrient and sediment loadings and trends in the amount of loadings delivered downstream. Routine samples are collected monthly, and 8 additional storm-event samples are also collected to obtain a total of 20 samples per year, representing a range of discharge and loading conditions (Chesapeake Bay Program, 2020). The Chesapeake Bay partnership uses results from this monitoring network to focus restoration strategies and track progress in restoring the Chesapeake Bay. Methods Changes in nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads in rivers across the Chesapeake Bay watershed have been calculated using monitoring data from 123 NTN stations (Moyer and Langland, 2020). Constituent loads are calculated with at least 5 years of monitoring data, and trends are reported after at least 10 years of data collection. Additional information for each monitoring station is available through the USGS website “Water-Quality Loads and Trends at Nontidal Monitoring Stations in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed” (https://cbrim.er.usgs.gov/). This website provides State, Federal, and local partners as well as the general public ready access to a wide range of data for nutrient and sediment conditions across the Chesapeake Bay watershed. In this summary, results are reported for the 10-year period from 2009 through 2018. -

The stations are listed in downstream order. Tributary streams are indicated by indention. Station names are given in their most recently published forms. Parentheses around part of a station name indicate that the inclosed word or words were used in an earlier published name of the station or in a name under which records were published by some agency other than the Geological Survey. The drainage areas, in square miles, are the latest figures pu~lished or otherwise available at this time. Drainage areas that were obviously inconsistent with other drainage areas on the same stream have been omitted. Under "period of record" breaks of less than a 12-month period are not shown. SPECIAL SESSION FLOOD CONTROL AND HAZARD MITIGATION ITEMIZATION ACT OF 1996 Act of Jul. 11, 1996, Special Session 2, P.L. 1791, No. 8 Cl. 86 Special Session No. 2 of 1996 No. 1996-8 AN ACT Itemizing public improvement projects for flood protection and flood damage repair to be constructed by the Department of General Services, together with their estimated financial costs; authorizing the use of disaster assistance bond funding for financing the projects to be constructed by the Department of General Services; stating the estimated useful life of the projects; making an appropriation; providing for the adoption of specific blizzard or flood mitigation projects or flood assistance projects to be financed from current revenues or from debt incurred under clause (1) of subsection (a) of section 7 of Article VIII of the Constitution of Pennsylvania; and making repeals. The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania hereby enacts as follows: CHAPTER 1 GENERAL PROVISIONS Section 101. Short title. This act shall be known and may be cited as the Special Session Flood Control and Hazard Mitigation Itemization Act of 1996. CHAPTER 3 FLOOD CAPITAL BUDGET PROJECT ITEMIZATIONS Section 301. Short title of chapter. This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the Special Session Flood Capital Budget Project Itemization Act of 1996. Section 302. Construction of chapter. The provisions of this chapter shall be construed unless specifically provided otherwise as a supplement to the act of July 6, 1995 (P.L.269, No.38), known as the Capital Budget Act of 1995-1996. Section 303. Total authorization.
