Hi Church, One of my favorite Godly Play stories begins like this: “Time, time, time. There are all kinds of time. There’s a time to wake up in the morning and a August 2020 time to go to bed at night. There’s a time to go to school and a time to come home. There’s a time to work and a time to play.” There’s also a time to say hello and a time to say goodbye. In mid-August, the time will come for Adam and me to say goodbye to our LABC family. I have accepted a new call to be Associate Pastor for Children and Spiritual Formation at First Baptist Church in Frankfort, and as of today, we are both resigning from our work at LABC to join with the church there. Our last day at LABC will be August 23, but our last Sunday in worship with you will be August 16. In Godly Play, we say that every ending is like a beginning, and every beginning is like an ending. When we tie the beginning that is like an ending and the ending that is like a beginning together, they make a circle — the circle of the church year. In the six and a half years we have been at LABC, we’ve been around that circle with you many Danville, Kentucky Volume 15, Number 8 times. We’ve walked through both Advents and Lents and Christmases and Easters with you. We’ve celebrated new life and mourned the passing of loved ones alongside you. We’ve rejoiced with you in joyful seasons and waited and prayed with you in anxious ones, and we are grateful for the journey we’ve shared. In this most recent season it has become clear that the time has come for us to move on to a new place of ministry. I will always hold you in my heart — you have affirmed my calling, ordained me, and allowed me to seek out the places where my creativity and imagination intersect with the work of the church. You have encouraged me, loved me, and entrusted your children to me time and time again, and I know that even though our circle and yours are separating now, we will August 6, Lexington Avenue Baptist Church will begin 10 years of always be connected by the love between us. preparing, boxing and delivering lunches to those in our community Thank you for all you have been to us.
