This statement exemplifies the story of Bob (Dusty) and Diana Wagner. They joined our club several years ago. They attended many of our Club functions over the years. Christ- mas parties, they would drive over from Clarks- burg, WV, to attend these events; sometimes in snow and fog. The last function was the Fall Tour to Elkins WV. Diana had been told several years ago that she had inherited a disease that ultimately killed her father. Diana really never fussed or complained as this disease progressed. She was stubborn and proud, refusing to give in to the many discomforts that she suffered on a daily basis. On October 30, 2014, Diana passed on. Larry and I attended her wake. Many friends came to pay their respects to Dusty November 28, 1949-October 30,2014 and Diana’s family. Some Studebaker friends trav- eled from Canada, Dayton, Ohio, Virginia and other parts of West Virginia. Her courage and determination were to be admired, but no more than Dusty’s loving care. She will truly be missed. New members December Birthday Ken and Doris Wilson 4915 Marianne Drive B'days Ann Braham 12/1 Scott Poole 12/19 Mt. Look carefully at the under hood pho- to and you will see four fill caps on the top of the battery. This clearly identifies it as an 8 volt unit. Closer examination also shows an alternator in place of the generator. The chromed mounting hardware is a nice fin- ishing touch. The vendor installed a chrome single wire GM type 8 volt positive ground alternator in place of the original 6 volt generator. This eliminates the need for a voltage regula- tor. With a slight modification to the stock generator mounting bracket the alternator installed perfectly. The dashboard ammeter gauge clearly registers as his battery is being recharged. This solved the myriad issues you run into when you attempt an upgrade of this complexity. 5 I have received an excellent article from Steve White about what its like to own an old Stu- debaker. It is too long to appear in the Com- mander but is on the Chapter web site and worth reading. Enjoy! Turns out it belongs to Bob Winokur who was at Rockville with the very same car. He got a huge trophy to display. Unfortunately, I don't think he is a member of the Potomac chapter.
