People in the beginning target community for long-term extension, Mae jai district, Phayao province, has been found having various health problems, including diabetes and hypertension. Thus, we aimed to provide proactive health services to people in the community through medical technology procedure coupled with training of health mainstay. The health mainstay would be transferred basic knowledge of community health care, to encourage people to realize and have information and ability to take care of their health sustainably. Research instruments consisted of the risk assessment of diabetes, hypertension, stroke, and metabolic syndrome, which were the community problems obtained from a community survey and community meeting based on the participation action research (PAR). Moreover, health modification programs, community leader training for being a local health mainstay and Enterobius vermicularis parasite detection, a health assessment in 2-5 year old child, were performed. The research area was Moo 2, Baan Tontakian, Sritoy, Mae Jai district, Phayao province. Population participating in research programs were community leaders, village health volunteers, neighbors in the community, teachers and 2-5 year-old child parents. The analysis and synthesis of research data were assessed from questionnaire and interview. The results showed after medical technology service and laboratory test result interpretation activities, leaders and people in community were able to read and understand the chemical evidences. From 124 samples, metabolic syndrome were found in 26 cases; accounting for 20.97%. After 3 months of the health behavior modification programs were applied to 26 case of metabolic syndrome, patients decreased to 14 persons; accounting for 53.85%. Furthermore, there was no detecting of pin worm egg in all 11 children from the Child Development Center. From the results of the health promotion activities, people in target area had the most satisfaction on the service up to 75% and received most out of activities up to 85%. In addition, health mainstay was obviously realized and learned both diseases occurring mechanism and how to watching over of these disease. Keywords: Proactive health services, Community health promotion, Participatory action research Area Based Development Research Journal.2014;6(1) Article No. 255626 http://abcjournal.trf.or.th/ Chinese Music Innovation of Bang Luang Community for Cultural Tourism Chaleerat Payomyam Faculty of Science and Technology, Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University, Muang District, Nakhon Pathom Province, Thailand 73000 Email: [email protected] Abstract This research program aimed to study community context and local wisdom in Chinese music of Bang Luang community, which comprised the area of Tambon Bang Luang and Tambon Hin Moon, Amphoe Bang Len, Nakhon Pathom Province; and to cooperate with the community to create the innovations as follows: 1) a curriculum in local Chinese music for the lower secondary school students of Jianhua Public School; 2) multimedia for learning local wisdom in Chinese music; 3) local guides and a training manual for local guides; 4) graphic design representing the identity of Chinese music community in term of cultural communication and 5) cultural tourism based on local wisdom in Chinese music. The quantitative - qualitative mixed methods, including participatory action research, were used. The research samples were the school administrators, teachers and students in Mattayom 3 of Jianhua Public School, local youths, music scholars, musicians of Ruam Mitr Bang Luang troupe, traders, tourists and community leaders. The research instruments for collecting data were an interview form, a questionnaire, a focus group discussion, a learning achievement test, a satisfaction test and an attitude test. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test. The research results were summarized as follows: 1. As for the study of the knowledge in Chinese music, the Chinese music curriculum was developed. The curriculum consisted of 5 lesson plans. After curriculum try-out, the students’ learning achievement and skills in music were higher. The students’ satisfaction with learning management was at a high level; while the students’ attitudes to the learning management were at an average level. 2. Regarding the development of multimedia for Chinese music learning, it was found that the quality of the multimedia was at the excellent level, while the content aspect was at good level. The students’ learning achievement was higher than before learning with the multimedia at the .05 level of statistical significance. The attitude of the students to the multimedia was at high level. 3. According to the local guides training, the curriculum was suitable in a high level and the trainees’ satisfaction was at the highest level. There were 20 local guides after the training. 4. As for the graphic design, it was suitable in aspect of beautifulness, moderness, representation of Ruam Mitr Bang Luang troupe, commercial attraction, suitability to all media types, uniqueness, universal communication, various forms of communication, and ease of remembering. 5. There were three forms of cultural tourism based on the Chinese music. 1) The performance at the local traditions had united and strengthened the community. 2) The performance at the community events, for example at the restaurant, created the cultural exchange between guests and visitors. 3) The performance for knowledge distribution, at the music house or stage shows, made the community famous and encouraged the pride in the community leading to culture inheritance to the next generation. The fieldwork data was collected by questionnaires and interviews with community leaders, group tour leaders, group tour members and advisors, local scholars, and local citizens. We used the techniques by SWOT analysis, future search conference, assign tourism problems, threats and solved the problems. A model of tourism management and the problem solving was assigned by the community and evaluated by the tourist. Two types of data analysis were employed: content analysis for qualitative data and descriptive statistics for quantitative data. The research showed that Ban Sai-ngam was outstanding, the people are hospitable, and its natural resources, particularly Kang Sai-ngam with Namlee stream running past the village, were beautiful. It had been very attractive to tourists, but the 2006 disastrous flood and mudslide completely destroyed the impressive scenery of Kang Sai-ngam. As a result, it was no longer a major tourist attraction of Uttaradit. However, the community
