Grateful acknowledgement is herein made of the assistance rendered to the Association of Graduates by the Air Force Academy and its Office of the Registrar. Further, we wish to extend particular thanks to Mr. Donald J. Barrett, Chief of Public Services Division, USAF Academy Library, who was per- sonally responsible for establishment of format, creation of abbreviations, compilation of historical information, and editing. Simply stated, this volume is a direct product of his efforts, and to him we are deeply indebted for the success of the project. The information contained in this volume represents all data known to the Association of Graduates as of 1 October 1966, except that deaths and those missing in action are current as of 1 December 1966. Any errors or omissions in the various entries may be reported to: ASSOCIATION OF GRADUATES, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado 80840; Area Code 303, phone 472-2067 or 472-0709. Finally, we wish to acknowledge with thanks the support of our twenty-nine hundred alumni who, in serving as recorded in this Register, have made its writing a worth- while undertaking. Treasurer 4 ASSOCIATION OF GRADUATES UNITED STATES AIR FORCE ACADEMY COLORADO 80840 January 1967 TO EACH GRADUATE: This year's Register of Graduates represents a new departure, in that this is our first venture into the business of creating a historical record of the Air Force Academy Graduates and their accomplishments. This printing represents the accumulation, sorting and publishing of some seven years of history of the graduates--all 2,933 of us. The true signifance of such a mass biographical record is yet to be seen. No one single entry makes the Register worthwhile; yet the accumulation of all the entries represents a significant public record of service on the part of the graduates. Surely in years to come the Register will contain Chiefs of Staff, Medal of Honor winners, and those who have indeed written national history. With that thought in mind - that it is for us to record as well as make such history - the present project was undertaken. Already it contains much Air Force and Academy history. Number 600105 lists the first Air Force Academy graduate to die in combat against an enemy of the United States; and many others did and will follow. Written into many entries are long hours of faithful service, and between the lines of quite a few are the acts of individuals -- heroic deeds -- which have already resulted in an enviable record for others to follow. To all who have assisted in the publishing of this Register, our thanks. To all of you who continue to set the pace - well done. To our deceased who have given as much as any can, and more than most of us ever will - Godspeed. Sincerely, RICHARD T. MATHEWS President Association of Graduates 5 BIOGRAPHICAL DATA and ABBREVIATIONS This is the first attempt to provide biographical career summaries for graduates E.
