Dear Friends, Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ! I don’t think there is a region in the whole world that is as inflamed and agitated as our region: The Middle East. I am sure that you follow the news about Syria: the destruction, the loss of lives, and the displacement of the Syrian people. As this was going on, the film defaming the Prophet Mohammed was broadcasted in the US and this evoked a volcanic response here in Egypt, in Libya, in Tunisia, in Sudan, in Yemen and in other parts of the region including a suicide bomb in Afghanistan killing 13. The film is aw- ful and is an intentional insult and provocation. The response to the film was also out of pro- portion and led to the death of innocent people, like the US Ambassador in Libya.

    ANiC Newsletter 22 November 2010 Handle with prayer News – ANiC and AEN Welcome Mill Bay church plant! Christ Church of the Valley (Mill Bay, BC) is ANiC’s 40 th official church plant/parish. The new congregation is lead by the Rev Andrew Hewlett – one of our Morning Prayer preachers at Synod. BC Court of Appeal gives mixed decision The BC Court of Appeal issued its decision from the September 13-16 hearing, agreeing with four Vancouver area ANiC parishes on issues of law, but still dismissing their appeal. The parishes, St John’s (Vancouver), St Matthews (Abbotsford), Good Shepherd (Vancouver), and St Matthias & St Luke’s (Vancouver), had appealed a 25 November 2009 decision of Mr Justice Stephen Kelleher awarding beneficial ownership of church properties to the Diocese of New Westminster in the case involving the split in the Anglican Church. The Diocese of New Westminster’s counter appeal of Mr Justice Kelleher’s decision granting a bequest (worth approx. $2M) to the ANiC congregation of the Church of the Good Shepherd was also dismissed. Special Counsel Cheryl Chang says: “In my view, the court did not give due consideration to some critical evidence on issues of doctrine, Anglican hierarchy and authority. Mdm Justice Newbury states (at para 75), “it is antithetical to the nature of Anglicanism to contemplate “Anglican ministry” in a parish that has withdrawn from the authority of its diocese and bishop”. However, this ignores the Windsor Report which stated clearly and unequivocally, in reference to this diocese and bishop, that it was more antithetical to Anglicanism for a bishop and diocese to act “unilaterally… in breach of the legitimate application of the Christian faith as the churches of the Anglican Communion have received it ”.

    News Release Monday, May 3, 2021 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WYCLIFFE COLLEGE ANNOUNCES HONORARY DEGREE RECIPIENTS MAY 2021 CONVOCATION TORONTO—On Monday, May 17, 2021, Wycliffe College will hold its annual Convocation for the conferral of doctoral and masters degrees conjointly with the University of Toronto. Due to current COVID restrictions, all aspects of the ceremony will be held virtually. Honourand Bishop Annie Ittoshat will preach at the Convocation Chapel Service. On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 12:00 noon (ET), Wycliffe will host a special ceremony to confer Honorary Doctorates on the Most Rev’d Mouneer Anis, the Rt Rev’d Annie Ittoshat, and the Rt Rev’d Stephen Leung. This will be followed by a Convocation Address by Archbishop Anis, on the topic of “The Vocation of a Minority Church in a Multicultural Context,” with response by Bishop Leung. All three will participate in a panel discussion on the same topic, moderated by the Rev’d Canon Dr Ephraim Radner, Wycliffe’s Professor of Historical Theology. The registration link will soon be available on our website www.wycliffecollege.ca . -30- Honorand Biographies: The Most Rev’d Mouneer Anis, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria, Diocesan Bishop of Egypt Mouneer Anis was born in 1950 in the Delta of the Nile, Egypt. He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Cairo University, Egypt in 1974. From 1979–2000 he served at Harpur Memorial Hospital in Menouf both as a Resident Doctor and, from 1980, as the Director of the Hospital.

    Fourth Trumpet from the Fourth Anglican Global South to South Encounter St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Singapore, 19th – 23rd April 2010 1. The Fourth Anglican South to South Encounter took place in Singapore from April 19th through April 23rd, 2010. The theme for this encounter was: “The Gospel of Jesus Christ - Covenant for the People; Light for the Nations.” We marveled at the power of this Gospel as we met together from all corners of the globe united in our commitment to Jesus the Christ and the proclamation of His message of eternal assurance and transformation open to all people. We were renewed in our determination to assist each other in fulfilling the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations and to do all that Christ has commanded. 2. Grateful for the gracious guidance of the Holy Spirit a total of 130 delegates from 20 provinces in the Global South (Comprising Africa, West Indies, Asia and South America) gathered together. We represented the vast majority of the active membership of the Anglican Communion. We were also joined by a number of our partners in the Gospel from Australia, New Zealand, and the USA. The entire delegation from the Province of West Africa and invited participants from the UK and Ireland were unable to be present because of travel difficulties. 3. We were immensely grateful for the wonderful hospitality provided for us by Archbishop John Chew and the people of the Diocese of Singapore and, in fact, the entire Province of South East Asia. The ministry among us by the former Primate of South East Asia, the Most Rev’d Datuk Yong Ping Chung as Encounter Chaplain was also a source of great blessing.

    August 2013 Newsletter The Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem Peace to you in the Name of the Lord Greetings from Bishop Suheil Dawani Dear Friends, Greetings from the Holy City of Jerusalem! The latter part of August was busy meeting with the various school boards in preparation for the beginning of another school year. While there is a considerable amount of work involved to ensure that everything is ready to provide our students with a solid academic programme, these meetings have an element of excitement and satisfaction as we prepare to receive these young people and fulfill the sacred trust placed in us to educate them so they can lead happy, meaningful and productive lives. I extend to all the dedicated staff of our schools my prayers and best wishes for a fulfilling school year and to all our students a truly joyous year of learning and personal development. I am very grateful to the clergy of the Diocese for the important ministry they provide to our young people through the year, but also during the summer holidays. Many young people attended camps during the recent weeks and received important Christian formation in fun-filled ways. Helping Christian youth to continue to mature in their faith and to live out their baptism by taking their rightful place in church and in society is a truly precious gift to impart to them. Unfortunately, the summer has also included many challenging days. Egypt continues to experience social upheaval and many people have died in recent demonstrations. Egyptian Christians have been threatened and killed and many churches have been damaged.
