COVID - 19 Advice & Guidance - 1st July 2020 This page will continue to be updated in line with Government announcements and guidance. Due to the ongoing pandemic the transport team would like to offer the following advice and guidance in relation to considering transport options for September 2020: Government guidance The Government guidance "Coronavirus (COVID-19): Safer travel guidance for passengers" is available here. We ask that all parents considering sending their child on the School Bus Service or using public transport options read this guidance about what they can do to ensure a safe journey to/from the school site. Advice from our team In line with Government guidance the transport team recommends that if you can walk or cycle to the school site this should be considered as the primary option for getting to school. This is followed by driving your child(ren) to/from the school site with any form of passenger transport such as the School Bus Service, rail service and public bus services only considered as a last option for bringing your child(ren) to the school site. Alternative public transport options alongside the SBS The transport team has taken the liberty of investigating alternative public transport options based on our stop locations. The transport team encourages our Foundation parents to consider all alternatives available if following the above government advice your family still absolutely requires transport to/from school as a last option. Information on alternative options provided at the bottom of this page. Use of our services The transport team has put in place a mandatory 1m plus social distancing policy in place on our closed services leading to reduced occupancy of our coaches. every effort will be made to provide travel to all at this stage. To achieve social distancing roughly only 1 in 2 seats will be able to be used (family members will be asked to sit together). Due to occupancy levels there may be logistics challenges bringing those that need the SBS as a last resort option to/from school leading to staggered departure and arrival times, we will communicate more closer to the start of the school year if required and parents should use our route timings as a guide at this stage. Due to social distancing routes may need to be adapted, and/or stops suspended to ensure we can serve those families that have no other alternative public transport options. The Foundation reserves the right to remove stops and change routes due to the exceptional nature of the current global pandemic although every effort will be made to ensure this does not happen. Should this happen, the transport team will give as much notice as possible to those affected families so that they can make arrangements/cancel their booking while the changes are in effect. All users of our services will be required to do te following: • Wear a face covering for all journeys on the SBS and public transport services - mandatory in England from 15th June 2020. failure to wear a face covering will mean no entry on to our services. • Avoid physical contact. • Sanitise your hands using the provided sanitiser upon entry to the bus. • Try to face away from other people. • Keep the time you spend near others as short as possible. • Observe 2m social distancing when queing for our services. • Be aware of the surfaces you touch. Be careful not to touch your face. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or the inside of your elbow when coughing or sneezing. • Treat transport staff with respect and follow instructions from your transport operator such as, notices on which seats to use, additional screens barriers and floor markings and requests to board through different doors or to move to less busy areas. Our transport provider has put the following measures in place: • Vehicles have seat blockers in place that clearly mark out where passengers can and cannot sit. • Seats directly behind the driver are prohibited. This is for the safety of our employees. • All vehicles are fitted with a bespoke hand sanitizing machine at the main entrance to the vehicle. We also hold data sheets for the sanitizer we use. • All passengers are required to sanitize their hands upon boarding our vehicles. • As per government guidelines all passengers are required to wear facemasks the whole time throughout their journey with us. • Although our cleaning regimes were high prior to lockdown we have still stepped up our processes to ensure nothing is missed. We have a team of cleaners that work tirelessly day and night to make sure all vehicle touch points, floors and driver area are sanitized between all trips. • Passengers are required to fill the vehicle from the back to the front. • Our driver will alight the vehicle whilst passengers are boarding. • Our driver will point out the hand sanitizer machine to all passengers as they board. • Our driver will try and maintain 2 meters apart from passengers as and when possible. • Our driver will wear gloves when loading and unloading passengers luggage. • Once all passengers have boarded our driver will then get back onto the vehicle once he/she feels it is safe to do so. • Our driver will carry out a safety speech, this maybe done whilst facing away from the passengers. • Once the passengers have reached their destination the driver will alight the vehicle 1st • Our driver may drive with the windows / roof vents open, this is to supply fresh air which helps prevent the spread of the virus. • Whilst the vehicle is out of our depot in the day our driver will sanitize all touch points between each journey.
