Clear lines containing Gems to trigger special bonuses, such as additional time on the clock or multiplier bonuses for a higher score. CONTROL OPTIONS & SCORES. GENERAL GAMEPLAY INFO. GOAL – Use the falling Tetriminos to clear lines and dig down as deep as possible within the allotted time, scoring as many points as possible. TIME – You’ll begin the game with one minute on a countdown clock. You can earn bonus time by clearing lines that contain red Gems. The game will end when the clock runs out of time. SCORE POINTS – Earn points by creating lines and triggering cascades. Create multiple lines at once to increase scoring opportunities. CASCADE LINE CLEAR – Completely filling horizontal lines will generate a cascade event, allowing individual blocks to drop into the open spaces below them. TETRIS LINE CLEAR – Completely filling four rows of horizontal lines at one time with an I-Tetrimino results in a Tetris Line Clear. This important move will reveal both red and green Gems, adding valuable time to the countdown clock and generating a powerful shockwave which results in an impressive avalanche of falling blocks. GEMS – Gems will appear from the bottom as you trigger Cascade Line Clears or during a Tetris Line Clear. The Gems come in different colors and each has a specific reward. Red Gems provide five additional seconds to the countdown clock. These Gems randomly appear as you dig down through the rock; however, they also appear when you execute a Tetris Line Clear. Orange Gems increase the score multiplier by one. A larger multiplier will increase the amount of points awarded for each action, which ultimately increases your overall score. Orange Gems appear every ten rows as you dig down through the rock layers. Green Gems generate a powerful shockwave event, creating an impressive avalanche consisting of all falling blocks above the rock surface. These Gems only appear after you’ve successfully executed a Tetris Line Clear. GHOST PIECE – Use the Ghost Piece to determine the best fit for the falling Tetrimino. This helpful guide appears directly below the falling Tetrimino and displays possible placements. NEXT QUEUE – Preview the upcoming Tetrimino in the Next Queue to plan ahead and increase your scoring opportunities. HOLD QUEUE – Store a falling Tetrimino in the Hold Queue for later use. GAME OVER – The game ends when the countdown clock runs out of time. If this happens during a cascade event, the game continues until the cascade ends. Bonus time gained during this period extends the game. As a last hurrah, any remaining blocks in the Matrix will break apart and trigger one final cascade action. Developing new games necessarily involves adopting existing elements, but recent disputes centering on alleged copying have gained prominence. What are the criteria to delineate legitimate inspiration from cloning? Given the ambiguous copyright situation, the legitimacy of imitation is contested. Drawing on discursive institutionalism, we investigate professionals’ discussions around an alleged cloning case. We find that imitation is accepted practice in the industry. Originality can involve making small adjustments to existing games, but practitioners condemn wholesale copying of games. The article suggests that, even beyond the games sector, imitation is a necessary part of innovation. Discourses are important in governing innovation practices in creative sectors.
