Two grandsons in lived in four different states and Dennis has worked in law Virginia. Beverly runs an exclusive golf club in Montecito, CA, One enforcement in California (LASO), Idaho, and Retiring in Bend, daughter in politics, one in hospitality management. Have seen most Oregon (Deschutes Co SO). We have 10 Grandchildren, ages 5 of the world in work and leisure. Very content in my life. years to 23 ( 5 girls and 5 boys). On my bucket list is to see New York, Niagara Falls. I love Bend, Or. we are in the middle of the state. High desert on the Deschutes River. We are straight up Hwy. 97, one hour to ski Mt. Lost my parents and 19-year-old brother in a plane crash in 1969. Lost my older brother in 2003 when he dropped dead from a massive heart attack in a hospital elevator. Suffered catastrophic consequences in 2011 from prostate cancer treatments and almost died when my bladder ruptured and spread infection throughout my entire abdomen, pelvic bone and right groin. Recovered to the point of being able to walk, jog, hike, work out with weights, ride a zip line and a horse. Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: Graduated from UCLA , got married, got my teaching credential at the University of Hawaii, had a son. I then taught junior high and high school math for 14 years in Anaheim before becoming a high school counselor and later an administrator. During that time, I spent several summers traveling in Mexico and learning Spanish. After being divorced for many years, I met Bill, whom I married just a few months ago. We currently live in Washington, where I actually enjoy the rain. We look forward to returning to California in a few years and being able to reconnect with MiCoHi friends. But, I must admit that I was a wanderer....Santa Cruz, Turlock, Kauai (17yrs), WA and TX for a hot minute each then back home.. am sure there were other places, but who can remember? Never finished my college career, which isn't a regret coz I've got all that family! Now I'm lucky to live part year South Bay and part year Oregon (the beach) enjoying life and connecting with all my old buddies!!! It's been grand so far!! Sailed to New York on one of the Queen Mary's last trips. Been mailed to Jim Anderson for 38 years. We have thoroughly enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, backpacking, and rock climbing (this for me not as much as the rest).     CHAPTER 1 The New Old-Fashioned Way: Do It Yourself It’s been three days since the police let us go, but I’m still feeling pretty shaken up about it. It’s hard not to get paranoid when you’ve been arrested for tak- ing a picture of a wheelbarrow. Here in Juba, the old capital city of the relatively new country of South Sudan, this is supposed to be the dry season, but it’s been raining every day. Juba is relatively developed compared with a lot of other cities and towns in this country, but most of the roads near our hotel are still unpaved, so I’ve gotten a great firsthand lesson in mud. There are two kinds of mud here: the normal brown mud that you’re used to and a strange black slippery mud that feels sort of like molasses under your feet. It’s almost impossible to walk on. Every- where you look, someone has fallen and gotten covered in mud. No one seems too upset about it; they pick themselves up, don’t stop to wipe themselves off, and they continue on their way. In fact, every time someone falls in the mud here, people laugh. It’s kind of disconcerting—your first reaction is, man, how rude, but then you realize that it makes its own kind of perfect sense. You fall, you laugh. Because you’re not dead. Such is life in a war zone. Such a gentle natured puss who never scammed or got angry. All I can say is I miss him horribly. You did the right thing for Charlie you loved him and was not going to let him suffer.
