WILLIE ALEXANDER - Willie played at Alcorn State University, and was drafted in the 1971 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. Willie was a starting defensive back for the Oilers for 9 years until his retirement. During his playing days, Willie worked in insurance during the off season, and when he retired in 1980, he established W.J. Alexander & Associates, a full service insurance brokerage and employee benefits consulting firm here in Houston which he still heads today. Willie is very active in the Houston community and serves on the Board of Directors of organizations such as Texas Children’s Hospital, the South Texas College of Law, and Amegy Bank.

ALAN ASHBY - Alan was born in Long Beach, CA and signed a professional contract immediately after graduating from high school. He reached the major leagues 4 years later, and played in the majors for 16 years with the , , and . Alan played 10 years with the Astros with great success, catching no hitters from , , and . Following his career, Alan has served as a minor league manager, coach for the Astros, and radio and TV personality doing Astro broadcasts as well as appearing on many local sports shows. He is now part of the broadcast team for the Toronto Blue Jays. Alan continues to live in Houston and was elected to the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 2000 and was named the for the Astros All Time Team.

KEVIN BASS - Kevin grew up in Redwood City, CA, and was drafted in the second round in 1977 by the Brewers. After making it to the big leagues with the Brewers, Kevin was traded to the Houston Astros in 1982 and was one of the best and most popular players on the team for many years before concluding his career with Baltimore. Kevin was a All Star in 1986, and almost led the team to the , losing a tough battle to the NY Mets who went on to win the Series. Kevin is a successful business person in Houston, and is also a frequent contributor to local radio.

CLIFF BRANCH - Born in Houston, Texas and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He spent his entire 14-year NFL career with the Oakland Raiders winning three rings in Super Bowl XI, XV and Super Bowl XVIII. Cliff was voted All-Pro in three consecutive seasons (1974-1976). He was named to four Pro Bowls (1974 – 1977). In 1974, Branch led the NFL in both receiving yards (1,092) and receiving (13). He also holds the Raiders franchise record for the longest reception of 99 yards from in 1983. He is a nominee to the NFL Hall of Fame.

RAYMOND CHESTER - Born in Cambridge, MD and graduated from Morgan State University. Raymond was drafted in the first round of the 1970 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. He played 12 years in NFL for the Raiders and the Baltimore Colts and played 4 Pro Bowls. He also started on the Super Bowl XV winning team. After retirement from the NFL he also played a season for USFL and made the USFL all-League team as well as The USFL All-Star Team.

BEN DAVIDSON - Big Ben, as he was known, grew up in ; but at 6’8” he was a basketball player until his Junior College coach convinced him to join the football team. Ben went on to play in 2 games with the U of before a 12 year career in pro football. Ben played 6 years with the Oakland Raiders, earning status 3 times, and also played for league championship teams with Green Bay and Washington. Ben was well known for his aggressive play and signature handle-bar mustache. Ben went on to Hollywood and appeared in films like MASH, Conan the Barbarian, and Necessary Roughness. He also did classic commercials for Miller Lite with and as well as appearing in the TV series Ball Four.

DOUG DAWSON - Doug grew up in Houston, and went on to star at The University of Texas where he was an All-Southwest Conference player and an Academic All American. Doug was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2nd round of the 1984 NFL Draft, and had an excellent 8 year career as an offensive lineman with the Cardinals, our own Houston Oilers, and the . Since his retirement Doug has had a highly successful career in Houston as a Financial Planning Consultant.

KEN DENNARD - Kenny, as he was known in his playing days, grew up in North Carolina and went on to star in basketball at Duke University where he was a 4 year letterman. In 1981, he was elected Team Captain and was Duke’s Most Valuable Player. He was drafted by Kansas City in the 1981 NBA Draft and played 4 years in the NBA with Kansas City and Denver. Following his playing days, Ken has had a highly successful business career and is currently the Managing Partner of Dennard Rupp Gray and Lascar, LLC. Here in Houston.

JACOB GREEN - Jacob grew up in Pasadena, TX and went on to star at Texas A&M University where he was a 2 time Captain, an All American, and MVP of the East West Shrine Bowl. He held and/or still holds school records for QB sacks and caused and was named to the All Decade team for the Southwest Conference. Jacob was the 10th player taken in the first round of the 1980 NFL Draft by the Seahawks, and played for 13 years in the NFL, making 2 Pro Bowl Teams and All Pro selections. He holds the all-time Seahawk record for QB sacks, and at the time of his retirement in 1992, ranked 3rd on the all-time NFL list for sacks. Jacob and his family reside in College Station, where he is an Executive with the 12th Man Foundation at Texas A&M. Jacob is still active in Seattle where he hosts the annual Jacob Green Charity Golf Classic which benefits charities in the Seattle area.

KENNY HAND - Kenny is well known to Houstonians as a long time nationally known columnist for the Houston Post. After leaving the Post, Kenny was a sports talk show host here in Houston, and still appears on many of the local sports talk shows. Kenny is a member of the Selection Committees for The Texas Sports Hall of Fame and The Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame. He lives in Houston and is Advertising Director of Texas Links Magazine.

GERALD IRONS - While many of us know and respect Gerald as a colleague; not all know his sports background. Gerald grew up in Gary, IN and played his college ball at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore. Gerald was drafted in the 3rd Round of the NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders to play Linebacker and played in the NFL for 10 years with the great Raiders teams of the 1970’s. He was named an “Oakland Raiders Legend.” Gerald closed his career with the Cleveland Browns, being named as one of the top 100 players in the history of that storied franchise and was voted Team Captain. Gerald studied in the off seasons during his career, achieving an MBA from the University of Chicago and attended John Marshall Law school. Gerald’s 3 sons all became college football stars at Michigan, Nebraska, and Notre Dame.

GERALD IRONS JR - Gerald grew up in The Woodlands, Texas. He played at the University of Nebraska as Nose Guard under the famed Coach Tom Osborne and played in many Bowl games. University of Nebraska has won (5) National Championships. Gerald graduated with a Business Administration Degree. He is currently an Academic Administrator at Lone Star College in Houston. Gerald is consistently helping and encouraging students to achieve higher graduation rates.

GRANT IRONS - Grant grew up in The Woodlands and was named the 1996 winner of The Dial Award as the national high school scholar athlete of the year. He went on to star for 4 years at Notre Dame and was voted Team Captain twice. Grant played Linebacker and Defensive End for six years in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders and . He graduated from Notre Dame with a Degree in Management Information Systems and continues to make his home in the Houston area. He currently is a Medical Device Representative for Stryker Medical.

JARRETT IRONS - Jarrett grew up in The Woodlands and went on to be an All- American Middle Linebacker at the University of Michigan. He was also elected to the All-Big Ten Conference team for 2 years and was team co-captain at Michigan his junior and senior years. Jarrett was one of only 5 players in the storied history of Michigan football to be named a captain as a junior, and when his career ended in 1996, he held the Michigan school record for all-time career tackles that is still unbroken today. Jarrett has a Bachelors and Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. He currently resides in Chicago, Illinois and is a Medical Device Representative for Smith & Nephew.

ALBERT JOHNSON III - Albert grew up in Houston and played college football at Southern Methodist University. He went on to play 2 years in the winning the League’s Rookie of the Year Award in 2000 while leading the league in kick return yardage. Albert also played 3 years in the NFL with the Dolphins, Jets, and Houston Texans before returning to the Canadian Football League and once again leading the CFL in return yardage and finishing 2nd in total yardage in 2006. He retired in 2008 and now resides in Houston.

DARYLE LAMONICA - The “Mad Bomber” as he was called, was known for his special ability to throw the long pass; grew up in Clovis, CA where the high school football stadium is named after him. After turning down a baseball contract with the Chicago Cubs, Daryle went on to star as a at Notre Dame. He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 1963 and played there for 4 years; but his career took off when he was traded to the Oakland Raiders in 1967. He started at QB for the Raiders for 5 years, leading them to 3 straight Western Division championships and one Super Bowl. Daryle was a 3 time ALL Pro and 2 time MVP of the Conference. His winning percentage as a starting QB for the Raiders was 90%, the highest in NFL history. He has also hosted a fishing show on Fox Sports called “Outdoors and the Pros.”

SETH MCKINNEY - Seth grew up in Texas finishing his high school career at Austin Westlake, where he teamed with and others to win the 5- A State Football Championship. Then Seth moved down the road to College Station where he started at Center for Texas A&M in 50 consecutive games. He was selected to the All Big 12 team as well as Academic All Big 12, and was a 2 time All American selection by AP. Seth has Bachelors and Masters Degrees from A&M. He was selected in the 3rd round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the and for 3 years started every game at Center. Seth also played with the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills. He lives in the Houston area.

GREG PRUITT - Greg grew up right here in Houston, and went on to play his college football at Oklahoma. He was a 2-time All Big 8 and All American as a running back and in 1999, was elected to The College Football Hall of Fame. Greg ranks 3rd all-time in rushing yards at Oklahoma. He was drafted in the 2nd Round of the 1971 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, and in 8 years with the Browns, was selected for 4 Pro Bowls. He finished his career with the Oakland Raiders, playing in one more Pro Bowl as well as on the Super Bowl XVIII Champions. He lives in the Cleveland, Ohio area.

MIKE PRUITT - Mike grew up in Chicago and played college football at Purdue as a running back. He was selected in the 1st round of the 1976 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. Mike played 11 years in the NFL with the Browns, Buffalo Bills and . He made the Pro Bowl twice, and ranks in the top 50 in rushing yards in the history of the NFL- gaining nearly 7,400 yards in his career. Mike lives in Akron, OH and is owner of an auto dealership there.

OTIS SISTRUNK - Otis grew up in Georgia, and enlisted in The Marine Corps after graduating from high school. After leaving the Marines, he played semi-pro football before being spotted by an NFL scout and joining the Oakland Raiders in 1972. Otis played 6 years with The Raiders; he was a key player on the 1976 Super Bowl Champions and was named to the Pro Bowl in 1974. After his retirement, Otis became a professional wrestler and won the NWA World Tag Team Championship. Otis has had a long career since as a civilian working for the , managing sports facilities and athletic training programs.

BOBBY TOLAN - Bobby grew up in and started his Major League career in 1965 as an outfielder with the St Louis Cardinals. He played on the 1967 team that won the World Series and 1968 team which lost the Series to Detroit. Bobby was then traded to the Cincinnati Reds where he had outstanding seasons before rupturing his Achilles, and he came back in 1972 to win the Major League Comeback of the Year award. Bobby played 6 more years with the Reds, Padres and Phillies before retiring in 1979. He later coached for the Padres and managed in the Senior Professional League. Bobby and his family live in the Houston area.

PHIL VILLAPIANO - Phil grew up in New Jersey, playing high school ball at Asbury Park and Ocean Township High Schools. He went on to star at Bowling Green University before being drafted in the 2nd round of the 1971 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. Phil played 9 years for the Raiders playing in 4 Pro Bowls and one Super Bowl Championship team. He finished his career with the Buffalo Bills, retiring in 1983. Phil still makes his home in the New Jersey area.

BILL YEOMAN - Head Football Coach for the University of Houston (1962-1986). He is the man responsible for taking the University of Houston football program from relative obscurity to national prominence in his 25 years as head football coach. His 160 victories are the most in UH history and rank 51st on the NCAA all-time wins list. Well known nationally as an innovator and the inventor of the Veer Offense, Coach Yeoman led UH to 4 Southwest Conference Championships and 11 bowl games. The Cougars finished nationally ranked 11 times during his tenure as head coach. Coach Yeoman’s contributions to the game of college football, both on and off the field, have been recognized with his enshrinement in the College Football Hall of Fame, the Southwest Conference Hall of Honor, and the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame.

CARL WARWICK - Carl grew up in Dallas and made his Major League debut as an outfielder with the in 1961. He played in the Majors for 6 years with the Dodgers, Cardinals, Cubs, and the Houston Colt 45s, predecessor of the Astros. He starred as a pinch hitter for the Cardinals in the 1964 World Series as they defeated the New York Yankees. Carl has had a successful business career since retiring from baseball in 1966, and currently owns a real estate investment firm in Houston and serves on the Board of the Houston Sports Authority.

CARL WEATHERS - Carl was born in , but matriculated to Long Beach, CA where he was a star football player in high school and at . He went on to play at State and played professional ball for 4 years with the Oakland Raiders and in the Canadian Football League. Carl started a long and successful acting career in 1975. He is probably best known for his role as in the movies, but he has appeared in many other movies and TV shows Including , Force 10 from Navarone, , and . He is currently doing very popular ads for Old Spice and the “Bud Light Playbook”.

HARVEY WILLIAMS - Harvey grew up in Hempstead, TX where he was one of the country’s top high school running backs. When he graduated in 1986, he committed to LSU where he went on to be an All SEC player. Harvey was drafted in the 1st round of the 1991 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs and played 7 years in the NFL. In 1995 he gained over 1,000 yards rushing for the Oakland Raiders. Harvey now lives in the Houston area.
