ABSTRACT Previous studies have mostly concentrated on narrow specialized aspects of the subject Tafsir al-Qur'än. This study is intended as an attempt at a general investigation of the principles and problems of the exegesis of the Qur'an, its form and content, combining such points of view as are appropriate in each case.
