BUDGET IMPACT: None BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: Jon C. Jones, property owner, has initiated a petition to amend the zoning map at 65 South 900 East to match the adjacent zoning at 63 South 900 East. The landlocked parcel (65 South 900 East) is zoned R-2 Residential. The street fronting parcel (63 South 900 East) is zoned RMF-30. Both lots are used to accommodate a Boarding House. This proposal is to provide the same zoning (RMF-30) on both lots. The petitioner plans on remodeling and upgrading the existing Boarding House. PUBLIC PROCESS: On May 26, 2017, the East Central and Avenues Community Councils were emailed notification of the proposal. On June 15, 2017, an open house was held at the Salt Lake/City County Building On August 23, 2017, the Planning Commission held a public hearing regarding the proposed zoning map amendment, and voted to forward a positive recommendation to the City Council to rezone the parcel. MAILING LIST SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE No. _____ of 2018 (Amending the zoning map pertaining to a parcel located at approximately 65 South 900 East Street to rezone a portion of the parcel from R-2 Single Family and Two Family Residential District to RMF-30 Low Density Multi-Family Residential District) An ordinance amending the zoning map pertaining to a parcel located at 65 South 900 East Street to rezone a portion of the parcel from R-2 Single Family and Two Family Residential District to RMF-30 Low Density Multi-Family Residential District pursuant to Petition No. PLNPCM2017-00361. WHEREAS, on April 26, 2017, Jon C. Jones (“Applicant”) submitted an application to rezone one parcel (the application identifies this parcel as Tax ID No. 16-05-127-032, however, since submitting the application, the Applicant combined the one parcel with an adjacent parcel and is now Tax ID No. 16-05-127-034) at approximately 65 South 900 East Street from R-2 Single Family and Two Family Residential District to RMF-30 Low Density Multi-Family Residential District pursuant to Petition No. PLNPCM2017-00361; and WHEREAS, the Applicant sought to have the parcel rezoned so that the zoning would be consistent with the Applicant’s adjacent parcel which is already zoned as RMF-30 Low Density Multi-Family Residential District; and WHEREAS, on August 23, 2017 the Salt Lake City Planning Commission held a public hearing regarding the Applicant’s Petition (PLNPCM2017-00361); and WHEREAS, at the meeting, the planning commission voted in favor of forwarding a positive recommendation to the Salt Lake City Council on said application; and WHEREAS, after a public hearing on this matter the city council has determined that adopting this ordinance is in the city’s best interests. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. Amending the Zoning Map. The Salt Lake City zoning map, as adopted by the Salt Lake City Code, relating to the fixing of boundaries and zoning districts, shall be and hereby is amended to reflect that a portion the parcel located at 65 South 900 East Street (Parcel Tax ID No. 16-05-1 27-034), and as more paiiicularly described on Exhibit "A" attached hereto, shall be and hereby is rezoned from R-2 Single Family and Two Family Residential District to RMF-30 Low Density Multi-Family Residential District. August 25, 2017 Staff provided the City Attorney’s Office with a draft ordinance reflecting the Planning Commission’s recommendation regarding the zoning map amendment. 2.
