[Üó꣬í (G¬ô) ⇠42, «õ÷£‡¬ñ («õM2)ˆ ¶¬ø, 21 HŠóõK 2014, ñ£C 9, Müò, F¼õœÀõ˜ ݇´-2045.] No. II(1)/AG/1(b-1)/2014. In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub–section (1) of Section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 27 of 1989), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby Confirms the declaration of exclusion of the following Markets from the notified area of the Tiruchirappalli Market Committee in Perambalur and Ariyalur Districts as mentioned below:- Perambalur District Ariyalur District (1) (2) (1) Perambalur (1) Ariyalur (2) Jayankondam (3) Andimadam (4) Melanikuzhi The intention to make such a declaration having been previously published as required by Section 3 of the said Act. In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 27 of 1989), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby declares the Perambalur and Ariyalur Districts to be notified areas for the purpose of the said Act in respect of Paddy, Groundnut (pods and kernels whole or split), Gingelly or Seasamum Seed or Ellu, Chillies, Coriander, Cashewnut (in all forms), Sugarcane Jaggery (in all forms) (Sugarcane Jaggery powder, Brown Sugar), Cumbu (in all forms), Ragi (in all forms), Cholam (in all forms) Black Gram (Ulundu) (in all forms), Turmeric (in all forms) (Bulb and finger), Tapioca – Tubes, Tapioca Chips, Tapioca flour, Tapioca Starch, Cotton (Kapas, Lint and Waste), Coconut in all forms except Tender Coconut and Tobacco (in all forms). In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 5 of Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 27 of 1989), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby establishes a Market Committee for the notified area of Tiruchirappalli District including the Karur District with headquarters at Tiruchirappalli comprising the notified market areas of Tiruchirappalli, Mannachanallur, Lalgudi, Manapparai, Thuvarankurichi, Thuraiyur, Thottiyam, Kattuputhur, Thathaiyangarpet, Karur, Chinnatharapuram, Kulithalai and Irumboothipatti Markets with effect on and from 21st February 2014 and the said Market Committee shall be known as Tiruchirappalli Market Committee. The demand of water is increasing day by day. So, groundwater resources play a vital role for additional demand by farmers and Industries and domestic usage leads to rapid development of groundwater. About 63% of available groundwater resources are now being used. However, the development is not uniform all over the State, and in certain districts of Tamil Nadu, intensive groundwater development had led to declining water levels, increasing trend of Over Exploited and Critical Firkas, saline water intrusion, etc. ADMINISTRATIVE SET UP The Geographical area of Tiruchirappalli district is 4, 40,383 hectares (4403.83 sq.km) accounting for 3.38 percent of geographical area of Tamil Nadu State. The district has well laid out roads and railway lines connecting all major towns within and outside the state. For administrative purpose, this district has been bifurcated into 8 Taluks, 14 Blocks and 41 Firkas.
