Esta necessidade de fios inviabilizou, em pouco tempo, a expansão da rede telefônica. Este problema foi resolvido com a invenção da central comutadora de telefones. Desde então, apenas melhorias no processo de comutação e segurança foram desenvolvidas. Já na informática, em pouco tempo grande evolução foi realizada. Computadores tiveram grande aumento no poder de processamento, redução de custo e diminuição de tamanho. O objetivo deste trabalho será mostrar que uma nova área para desenvolvimento de sistemas surgiu: o desenvolvimento de sistemas para serviços de telefonia. Como a concorrência na telefonia está agressiva, novas soluções de serviços agregados são altamente procuradas pelas companhias telefônicas. As centrais telefônicas comunicam entre si através de protocolos de comunicação padronizados. Fabricantes de placas para computadores desenvolveram placas capazes de fazer a comunicação de computadores com centrais telefônicas, possibilitando assim, o desenvolvimento de sistemas de informática que agregam serviços à telefonia. Esta área de desenvolvimento de sistemas ainda possui poucos fornecedores e os produtos desenvolvidos possuem boa aceitação no mercado e preços atrativos para os fabricantes de sistemas. Como exemplo desta união de tecnologias e integração entre uma central telefônica e um computador, existe o sistema do serviço Pré- pago. Introdução A telefonia é uma área que proporciona grande evolução para a humanidade, pois ela permite que informações sejam enviadas para grandes distâncias e até mesmo para áreas que de outra forma seria impossível, de forma instantânea. A evolução da telefonia foi grande em relação a equipamentos de encaminhamento de chamadas e de comutação, mas, em relação à diversidade de serviços e recursos, pouco foi conseguido. A partir do início da década de 90, novos produtos começaram a surgir, como o Pré-pago, a Secretária Eletrônica, os sistemas de reconhecimento de voz e as redes inteligentes que fornecem os serviços de votações por telefone. Uma característica em comum em todos os novos serviços que estão surgindo é a utilização de um computador para fazer a “inteligência” do serviço. Estes serviços, geralmente são oferecidos por uma empresa de telefonia que vende um “pacote fechado”, esquema este, também conhecido como arquitetura fechada, onde só o próprio fornecedor tem conhecimento e autorização para fazer qualquer tipo de ajuste no sistema.     CHAPTER 3 SS7 Protocol Stack This chapter describes the components of the SS7 protocol stack. A stack is a set of data storage locations that are accessed in a fixed sequence. The SS7 stack is compared against the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model for communication between different systems made by different vendors. Figure 3-1 shows the components of the SS7 protocol stack. SS7 Level 1: Physical Connection This is the physical level of connectivity, virtually the same as Layer 1 of the OSI model. SS7 specifies what interfaces will be used, both Bellcore (Telecordia) and ANSI call for either the DS0A or the V.35 interface. Because central offices are already using DS1 and DS3 facilities to link one another, the DS0A interface is readily available in all central offices, and is preferred in the SS7 network. As the demands on the SS7 network increase (local number portability), and as the industry migrates toward ATM networks, the DS1 interface will become the link interface. SS7 Level 2: Data Link The data link level provides the network with sequenced delivery of all SS7 message packets. Like the OSI data link layer, it is only concerned with the transmission of data from one node to the next, not to its final destination in the network. Sequential numbering is used to determine if any messages have been lost during transmission. Each link uses its own message numbering series independent of other links. SS7 uses CRC-16 error checking of data and requests retransmission of lost or corrupted messages. Length indicators allow Level 2 to determine what type of signal unit it is receiving, and how to process it.

    CHAPTER 2 Supported Signaling Protocols Revised: August 10, 2011, OL-25011-01 The Cisco BTS 10200 Softswitch supports the following types of external signaling protocols: • Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) line • MGCP Channel-Associated Signaling (CAS) • Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) primary rate interface (PRI) • Signaling Transport (SIGTRAN) for Signaling System 7 (SS7) applications, including ISDN user part (ISUP) support for several national ISUP variants • H.323 • Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and SIP-T • PacketCable-based signaling protocols: – Network-Based Call Signaling (NCS) protocol – Trunking Gateway Control Protocol (TGCP) – Dynamic quality of service (DQoS)/Common Open Policy Service (COPS) query and response protocol – Remote authentication dial-in user service (RADIUS) authentication protocol (IETF RFC 2865) The BTS 10200 interworks with a wide range of network elements (NEs), but there are certain limitations. We recommend that you keep the following caution in mind as you prepare to purchase and use NEs for your network. Caution Some signaling features involve the use of other NEs deployed in the service provider network, for example, gateways, media servers, announcement servers, embedded multimedia terminal adapters (eMTAs), H.323 endpoints, and SIP phones. See the “Component Interoperability” section of the BTS 10200 Release Notes for a complete list of the specific peripheral platforms, functions, and software loads that have been used in system testing for interoperability with the BTS 10200 Release 6.0 software. Earlier or later releases of platform software might be interoperable with the BTS 10200 and it might be possible to use other functions on these platforms. The list in the Cisco BTS 10200 Softswitch Release Notes certifies only that the required interoperation of these platforms, the functions listed, and the protocols listed have been successfully tested with the BTS 10200.
