Injuries occuring outside the state of Minnesota An employee who is injured outside the state of Minnesota is only covered under the Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Act if the Act’s requirements for “extraterritorial application” or “temporary out-of-state employment” are met. Extraterritorial application The requirements for “extraterritorial application” are in Minnesota Statutes, section 176.041, subdivision 2. Subd. 2. Extraterritorial application. If an employee who regularly performs the primary duties of employment within this state receives an injury while outside of this state in the employ of the same employer, the provisions of this chapter shall apply to such injury. If a resident of this state is transferred outside the territorial limits of the United States as an employee of a Minnesota employer, the resident shall be presumed to be temporarily employed outside of this state while so employed. Under this statute, Minnesota workers’ compensation benefits apply if any employee who “regularly performs” the “primary duties” of employment in Minnesota is injured while working for the same employer outside of Minnesota.

    Chapter 3 Adam of Bremen on Slavic Religion 1 Introduction: Adam of Bremen and His Work “A. minimus sanctae Bremensis ecclesiae canonicus”1 – in this humble manner, Adam of Bremen introduced himself on the pages of Gesta Hammaburgensis ecclesiae pontificum, yet his name did not sink into oblivion. We know it thanks to a chronicler, Helmold of Bosau,2 who had a very high opinion of the Master of Bremen’s work, and after nearly a century decided to follow it as a model. Scholarship has awarded Adam of Bremen not only with a significant place among 11th-c. writers, but also in the whole period of the Latin Middle Ages.3 The historiographic genre of his work, a history of a bishopric, was devel- oped on a larger scale only after the end of the famous conflict on investiture between the papacy and the empire. The very appearance of this trend in histo- riography was a result of an increase in institutional subjectivity of the particu- lar Church.4 In the case of the environment of the cathedral in Bremen, one can even say that this phenomenon could be observed at least half a century 1 Adam, [Praefatio]. As part of the German Unity Transport Project VDE 8 Nuremberg-Berlin, in November 2012 Porr Bau GmbH was awarded a further contract by DB Netz AG, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, for the equipping of a topped-out new- build section between Coburg and Ilmenau. The ballastless track system “Slab Track Austria – System ÖBB-PORR elastisch gelagerte Gleistragplatte” (elastically encased sleepers) with its proven 23-year record will likewise be deployed over some 44 km of high-speed section. There are a total of 13 valley bridges and 12 tunnels in the section. The total contract volume of around EUR 100 million is to be spent in the core building period from July 2013 to December 2014. The entire VDE 8 section between Berlin and Munich is scheduled to come into operation in 2017 – the travel time between the two cities will then be about 4 hours. The contract volume also includes the erection of around 14 km of noise barriers. Increased installation of this proven system began in Germany in 2001 with the project “Lehrter Hauptbahnhof Berlin”, Berlin’s central station, in 2001. The Coburg-Ilmenau subsection is a follow-up contract to the section VDE 8.2 “Erfurt–Gröbers” already awarded to Porr Bau GmbH in 2011. Here the ballastless track has been in the process of installation over some 90 km of two-track section since June 2012.

    Ballastless track on high-speed lines A guarantee for travel savety and comfort Prologue High–speed rail travel, as a fast connection between high-density population areas and as an alternative to frequently-overloaded air connections with an uncertain future, is gaining increasingly in significance all over the world. In the face of growing traffic density, critical views of life-cycle costs and significantly increa- sed requirements of the availability of railway tracks, there is an increasing demand for track systems which have a long lifetime, low service and maintenance costs and which also guarantee tra- vel safety and comfort. Ballastless tracks (BLT) have numerous advantages over the tradi- tional ballasted track, because of markedly reduced maintenance costs, longer duration of use, improved precision of the running track and the resultant quiet vehicle running. High speed and ballast The nature of the route requirements is changing, as a result of an increase in travel speed or axle loads. The load transported creates inertial forces and the particular more-frequent faults ari- sing from the rolling process are increasing dramatically. Altered deformation mechanisms with dynamic stimulation can result in major grain shifts during piling-up of ballast, which result in con- siderable impairment of the ballasted track and are responsible for uneven creeping and track displacement in the ballast bed. In addition, the track ballast stones are sucked up by vehicles at very high speeds (flying ballast) and may damage them. De- spite the choice of harder types of stone for ballast in high-speed traffic, maintenance costs are considerably higher.

As in many places, the wartime damage was seized upon as the opportunity to replan, sometimes radically, at all scales from the City core to the county and region. The hierarchy of plans thus produced, especially those by Abercrombie, is often celebrated as ‘models’, cited as being highly influential in shaping post-war planning thought and practice, and innovative. But much critical attention has also focused on the proposed physical product, especially the seductively-illustrated but flawed beaux-arts street layouts of the Royal Academy plans. Reconstruction-era replanning has been the focus of much attention over the past two decades, and it is appropriate now to re-consider the London experience in the light of our more detailed knowledge of processes and plans elsewhere in the UK. This paper therefore evaluates the London plan hierarchy in terms of process, using new biographical work on some of the authors together with archival research; product, examining exactly what was proposed, and the extent to which the different plans and different levels in the spatial planning hierarchy were integrated; and impact, particularly in terms of how concepts developed (or perhaps more accurately promoted) in the London plans influenced subsequent plans and planning in the UK.

There are certain references, problems and procedures that will affect how one does research regardless of the area in Germany where he intends to do research. A survey of results in this direction is presented in [1]. An an- alytical method for solving some problems of this class is also described and analyzed in [1]. This method can be applied only in particular cases when we are known analytical formulae for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of mechanical structures without loads.
