  • My Life and Stryper Revealed
HONESTLY My life and Stryper revealed. By Michael Sweet Founding member, singer, songwriter, and guitarist of the pioneering Christian rock band Stryper tells his life story…. Honestly. with Dave Rose and Doug Van Pelt © 2014 Big3 Records ONE I drink. Occasionally I smoke. If you ask my wife, my kids, my tech, my agent or my manager they'll all tell you that I curse more than I should. I've fooled around with women on tour buses. I’ve been arrested for indecent exposure. I've been reckless with money to the point of bankruptcy. My favorite bands are The Beatles, Van Halen and Judas Priest. I was pissed at God when my wife died of cancer and I despise religion. I am a Christian. I'm Michael Sweet. I’m a singer, guitarist, songwriter, producer and a founding member of the pioneering Christian rock band Stryper. We've sold almost 10 million records to date and were the first Christian band to air on MTV, and to have four #1 videos. We even had two top-10 videos at the same time, back when MTV actually played music videos. We've played soccer stadiums and biker bars, sometimes in the same week. Despite having done all of that, I'm still often known as the Bible-Tossing- Yellow & Black-Bumble-Bee guy. The Jesus guy. The 80's hair/glam Christian metal guy. An irrelevant joke. Or, even worse-- sometimes I'm not known at all. So who am I? I'm a guy that grew up in Southern California – sort of a surf punk kind of guy who absolutely loved music.

  • Brenda Wawok Kinsella Horton Wildfang Family Tree
Brenda Wawok Kinsella Horton Wildfang Family Tree Ancestors of Mary Elizabeth Wiltfong, my grandmother ―The Chosen‖ We are the chosen. In each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again. To tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story. So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors, "You have a wonderful family; you would be proud of us.". How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who I am, and why I do the things I do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying - I can't let this happen. The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish. How they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family.

  • Interfaith Scroll 7 9-25-18 Print
Bill Ford, Executive Chairman Jim Hackett, CEO Ford Motor Company, Dear Mr. Ford, and Mr. Hackett, In 2011, Ford Motor Company was part of a historic breakthrough in cooperation on climate solutions when the company supported the Clean Car Standards, which would raise fuel eciency standards to an average of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. As people of faith who care for Earth and all of its inhabitants, we cheered this progress. Then, under the current Administration, Ford began lobbying for a review of the standards, asking for “additional exibility” in meeting them. Despite the debt Ford owes to the American taxpayers for billions of dollars to invest in advanced vehicle manufacturing, you now seem ready to go back on your commitment to cleaner cars for American drivers. This is unconscionable. We call on you to stand by the Clean Car Standards. The Ford name carries a legacy of innovative technological advancements for the good of society. The Clean Car Standards gave Ford an opportunity to continue this legacy of innovation and bolster its stated commitment to sustainability. We hoped that Ford would look to the future and compete with China and Europe on the clean cars of tomorrow, while cleaning up our air at home and saving families money at the pump. Today, the transportation sector is the single largest and fastest growing source of carbon pollution in the U.S. Cars and pickup trucks account for 47 percent of oil used in the United States and nearly one third of our greenhouse gas emissions. This trend makes the Clean Car Standards we adopted seven years ago even more prescient and important.
