My Life and Stryper Revealed
HONESTLY My life and Stryper revealed. By Michael Sweet Founding member, singer, songwriter, and guitarist of the pioneering Christian rock band Stryper tells his life story…. Honestly. with Dave Rose and Doug Van Pelt © 2014 Big3 Records ONE I drink. Occasionally I smoke. If you ask my wife, my kids, my tech, my agent or my manager they'll all tell you that I curse more than I should. I've fooled around with women on tour buses. I’ve been arrested for indecent exposure. I've been reckless with money to the point of bankruptcy. My favorite bands are The Beatles, Van Halen and Judas Priest. I was pissed at God when my wife died of cancer and I despise religion. I am a Christian. I'm Michael Sweet. I’m a singer, guitarist, songwriter, producer and a founding member of the pioneering Christian rock band Stryper. We've sold almost 10 million records to date and were the first Christian band to air on MTV, and to have four #1 videos. We even had two top-10 videos at the same time, back when MTV actually played music videos. We've played soccer stadiums and biker bars, sometimes in the same week. Despite having done all of that, I'm still often known as the Bible-Tossing- Yellow & Black-Bumble-Bee guy. The Jesus guy. The 80's hair/glam Christian metal guy. An irrelevant joke. Or, even worse-- sometimes I'm not known at all. So who am I? I'm a guy that grew up in Southern California – sort of a surf punk kind of guy who absolutely loved music. -

Many explanations have been proposed to explain this tendency. This study critically examines these theories through historical and musicological analyses and concludes that the prevalence of the downbeat is a mixture of Jamaican folk and African-American popular music influences in its earliest incarnation, but was later deliberately emphasized in an attempt to create a unique new musical style. -

Primeiramente, agradeço aos meus pais, Cidnei Furtado Rodrigues e Marlene V. Chasing Leisure: a Hermeneutic of Late Modernity
CHASING LEISURE: A HERMENEUTIC OF LATE MODERNITY by Stephen Robert Svenson A thesis presented to the University of Waterloo in fulfillment of the thesis requirement for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, 2015 © Stephen R. Svenson 2015 Author’s Declaration I hereby declare that I am the sole author of this thesis. This is a true copy of the thesis, including any required final revisions, as accepted by my examiners. I understand that my thesis may be made electronically available to the public. Stephen R. Svenson ii Abstract This dissertation addresses shortcomings in the sociological study of leisure through providing a new conceptual approach for understanding human action and meaning making. It reformulates leisure as the leisure imaginary, the sphere in which the individualized person works out problems of identity and community. The leisure imaginary takes the Heidegerrian starting point that our being is a being before death and that it is our fundamental preoccupation with death that gives life its sense of urgency. In late modernity, however, our coping mechanisms for dealing with our fear and anxiety over death have been compromised which has left people disembedded and individualized. It is the thesis of this dissertation that leisure imaginaries have arisen to fill the gap left by institutions like religion and the family that formerly provided ontological security and ontological exigence. The leisure imaginary, then, is a response not only to our being before death but to the conditions of late modernity, the anxieties and preoccupations of our time, our social imaginary or lifeworld. -

In 1996 Chuck recorded Darlings-Real Fucking two demos for the new project and began finding the right band Make-up! Leatherwolf-New members. He decided to do one more Death album in "The sound of World Asylum perseverance", but then got back to his Control Denied project. Snatch?! CONTROL DENIED the Fragile Art of Existence Metal Mind As
CONTROL DENIED The Fragile Art of Existence Metal Mind As everyone reading this knows, The Fragile Art of Existence is the only recording ever released by Chuck Shuldiner's post-Death band Control Denied. Progressing along the same lines as Death's final three masterpieces, the music here goes even further into the progressive side, and added to the power metal aura with vocalist Tim Aymar. With a solid lineup of musicians - Chuck himself on guitar along with Shannon Hamm, Tim on vocals, Richard Christy on Drums, and the amazing Steve DiGiorgio on fretless bass - the musicianship here is almost untouchable. Guitar lines are all played flawlessly, with crushing riffs interweaved with intricate melodies, all the while Steve's froggy sounding bass lines bring up all sorts of funky stuff from the bottom end. Richard Christie is no slouch on the skins either, not only keeping the beats, but throwing in plenty of technical fills where they need to be. I hesitate to pick a favorite song here, because I usually just put this disc in and enjoy the hell out of the whole thing, and it seems I pick up new and interesting musical tidbits with just about every new listen. Unfortunately, due to Chuck's untimely passing, this is the last we ever got from him. Thankfully, Metal Mind has chosen this as one of their limited edition re-issues, remastered on a golden disc. The sound here is great (as was the original release, IMO), and the booklet includes a four page writeup about the timeline of Control Denied.
