Precious Wright 6 Protest March Against Veolia Transfer Station

By Cindy Levitt

On Saturday morning August 27 the community came together to protest the request by Veolia Waste Transfer station to modify their existing permit with the state. There were about 65-70 people, and three dogs there. Veolia closed for the day after learning of the protest. This resulted in lost business for them as trucks arrived wanting to dump their loads during the morning. An organizing committee is coming together to tackle this issue from multiple perspectives. They plan to engage Evanston as a whole in educating the community about this issue and environmental injustice.
