Airtight

To control the air is to rule the world.

Nuclear testing has fractured the Earth's crust, releasing poisonous gases into the atmosphere. Breathable air is now an expensive and rare commodity. A few cities have survived by constructing colossal air stacks which reach through the toxic layer to the remaining pocket of precious air above. The air is pumped into a huge underground labyrinth system, where a series of pipes to the surface feed the neighborhoods of the sealed city. It is the Air Force, known as the "tunnel hunters", that polices the system. Professor Randolph Escher has made a breakthrough in a top-secret project, the extraction of oxygen from salt water in quantity enough to return breathable air to the world. Escher is kidnapped by business tycoon Ed Conrad, who hopes to monopolize the secret process and make a fortune selling the air by subscription to the masses. Because Conrad Industries controls the air stacks, not subscribing to his "air service" would mean certain death. When Air Force Team Leader Flyer Lucci is murdered, his son Rat Lucci soon uncovers Conrad's involvement in his father's death and in Escher's kidnapping. Rat must go after Conrad, not only to avenge his father's murder, but to rescue Escher and his secret process as well. The loyalties of Rat's Air Force colleagues are questionable, but Rat has no choice. Alone, if necessary, he must fight for humanity's right to breathe.

June 4, 2015. The International Mars Venture (IMV), a privately funded expedition to explore the red planet, is about to lift off from Cape Santana on the Gulf of Mexico. The 70 billion dollar project includes live, on-line coverage of the spaceship "Sagan" and its 5 member crew completely throughout its 2 1/2 year mission to Mars. As well as establishing a self-sufficient base for future colonization, the IMV hopes to determine whether vast mineral wealth might exist on the planet. Hand picked, thoroughly screened and trained together as a team, the 5 were meant to function as a single unit. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

The odyssey of a colorful crew of Starfleet officers battling internal and external demons in the farest reaches of the galaxy

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine takes place near the beginning of the 24th century and follows the adventures of a team of Starfleet officers who take command of a remote alien space station on the edge of a new frontier. Designated "Deep Space Nine", the space station is located near the mouth of a newly discovered wormhole, a phenomenon that provides a shortcut to a distant, unexplored quadrant of the galaxy. Travelers of all kinds are drawn here, and with hostile alien empires on all sides, Deep Space Nine becomes the most strategic post in the galaxy.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine "thrives on an edgier dynamic of humor and conflict, and a more boisterous climate of adventure than the often-serene Next Generation." (USA Today) Instead of taking place on the Enterprise, the action of Deep Space Nine unfolds in a rundown space station. The environment is uncomfortable. The characters are frequently at odds with one another. Their beliefs and values often clash. The show's emphasis is on conflict, not harmony. All this makes for gritttier, more exciting viewing.

The characters range from the noble and heroic Commander Benjamin Sisko to the slimy, sexist alien Quark; from the hard-boiled female Bajoran ex-terrorist Major Kira Nerys to humanoid bombshell Lieutenant Jadzia Dax; and from shape-shifting security officer Odo to the Next Generation Miles O'Brien, the chief operations officer. Shot with a budget of .5 million per episode, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine has a feature- film look - and feature-film special effects: "outstanding even by Trek standards" (USA Today). They not only add visual interest, but contribute to story and character development. The visual effects producer is Rob Legato, who served as effects supervisor on The Next Generation.

Three

What do a suave jewel thief, a seductive con artist and an expert hacker have in common? Very little - except the need to stick together to stay out of prison. They're three top criminals wanted by the law, and the only way they can save their necks is to work for The Man, a shadowy figure who represents a mix of government and business interests.

Who are the Three? Jonathan Vance, a high-end art and jewel thief who can let the most heavily guarded items disappear in a wink. Amanda Webb, a drop-dead gorgeous martial arts expert and con woman who leaves her victims in ruins, financially and emotionally. Marcus "The Candyman" Miller", a virtuoso hacker who can get into any program, anywhere.

No mission is impossible when these three join their special talents and street smarts to The Man's bankroll and technology. Their adversaries include a computer maniac plotting the nuclear destruction of a major American city, a revenge-seeking former employee of The Man, and three scientists who've got something tremendously deadly circling the earth in a satellite. As The Man says, "We live in a world precariously balanced on the edge of chaos. Our job is to see that it doesn't tip."

Two Of Us

What remains when the music is over

In 1976, when rumors of a Beatles reunion were circulating throughout the world at fever pitch, a legendary meeting supposedly took place between John Lennon and Paul McCartney in Lennon's lofty Manhattan apartment. One can imagine this is how such a meeting might have gone... McCartney is cautiously optimistic, Lennon sharp and sarcastic. Since their falling-out years ago and the subsequent breaking-up of the band, their bond of love and affection had fallen prey to mutual blame. It was Yoko Ono, John's girlfriend, who was at the center of the dispute that eventually led to the Beatles' parting their ways. After their initial verbal fencing and confrontation they smoke a joint together, melting the ice, and John and Paul slowly drift back into a mellower, happier mood. Soon it's like old times, but when Paul gently confronts him with deep and heartfelt perceptions that collapse John's defensiveness and bring him to tears, it is to Yoko that John turns with a phone call. Paul sadly perceives John's sudden change of energy and the intimate, focused rapture of their talk, and he wistfully bids his old friend adieu; he has to Yoko again.
