Hawaiian Mission Academy Focus on Learning Preface i WASC Preparation Timeline This document is the result of the collaboration of the entire Hawaiian Mission Academy faculty, with input and data collected from administrators, teachers, students, parents, church pastors and parishioners, alumni, and other constituent groups. All major stakeholders gave input to this document. The following timeline lists the major events that took place in preparing this WASC document. It should be noted, however, that regular faculty meeting times (7:30 – 7:50 a.m. daily and 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Wednesdays) were also used as needed to work on the document. 09.20.04 The faculty met with Dr. Thambi Thomas who conducted a brief in-service for the faculty to give an overview of the WASC process and what the document should be composed of. The HMA Vice-Principal was designated as the WASC coordinator for the academy. 10.11.04 – 10.12.04 Two in-service days were set aside to review action plans from the WASC Interim 2003 visit and rewrite the ESLRs,

John Yonenaga Arashiro, one of ten children, was born in Haneji-son, Okinawa, in 1902. He arrived in the Islands in 1916. He worked at Kekaha plantation for two years before moving to Honolulu. In Honolulu he improved upon the six years of schooling received in Okinawa. Supporting himself as a schoolboy, he studied at Trinity Mission School, 'Iolani School, and Hawai'i Mission Academy. Prior to graduation, he quit school and worked at a Japanese-run restaurant. Later, he became a waiter at the Moana Hotel and the Royal Hawaiian . In 1928 he began a thirty-six year career at Halekulani. Starting as a waiter, he rose to captain of waiters in 1946.     Educational Access Final Report for Academic Year 2011-12 October 2012 Introduction The following report is an overview of the Educational Access (EA) activities for the 2011-12 school year. This report was compiled by the Hawaii Educational Networking Consortium's (HENC) Education Program Manager as a condition of the Educational Access agreement between ‘Olelo, Community Media and the Hawaii Educational Networking Consortium.
