No Place for Hate – Safe School On Monday, February 5th forty Buchanan students participated in the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) No Place for Hate training. Jacqueline Regev, Education Director with the ADL Central Pacific Region, came to Buchanan to facilitate this national program that celebrates diversity, promotes respect for differences and challenges bias and bullying at all levels. Students from PASA (Principal’s Advisory for Student Affairs), Peer Counseling and Leadership were purposefully selected to become ambassadors for the No Place for Hate initiative. This group of students built their knowledge about identity, diversity and bias with the ultimate goal of sharing what they learned with other students. These students will plan and lead a Human Relations Day on Monday, March 19th for all Buchanan Students. Later than that evening, Buchanan and Alta Sierra parents and community members participated in an abbreviated version of the No Place for Hate training at the Buchanan Community Outreach Meeting. Ms. Regev shared information, resources and practical strategies that parents could use to support their students. Begin practicing No Place for Hate at home today!
