Water Regime of Trans-Boundary Rivers Between Bulgaria and Serbia
GEOGRAPHICAL INSTITUTE “JOVAN CVIJIĆ” SASA JOURNAL OF THE … Vol. 60 № 2 YEAR 2010 Original scientific paper 911.2:551.49 HYDROLOGICAL PICTURE OF NIŠAVA TRANS-BOUNDARY CATCHMENT Nelly Hristova1* *University St. Kliment Ohridski, Faculty of Geology and Geography, Sofia, Bulgaria Abstract: This work focuses on hydrographic and hydrological specific of Nišava River. It uses all hydrometric and cartographic information for the Bulgarian part of the catchment. Trans- boundary catchment of Nišava River includes four sub-basins, which are trans-borders too. There are a lot of karst areas in the river basin. The drainage density is 1.09 km/km2. Water resources of Nišava River are 170 million m3. They vary between 300.0 and 84.0 million m3. The period of high water appears in March/April and finishes in June. The frequency of monthly maximum is biggest in April or May. The monthly minimum appears most often in September or October. Floods in the catchment of the river Nišava are most often in March, May and June. Some of the rivers lose its waters in the karst areas and dries up during the summer. The average number of days with ice is between 10 and 70. The chemical and ecological status of river water is good. Key words: Nišava River, water resources, stream flow’s regime Introduction There are 71 international river basins in Europe witch cover 54 % of total area (Wolf et al., 1999). One of them – Danube basin, includes some trans-boundary catchments between Bulgaria and Serbia – drainage basins of Timok River (right tributary of Danube) and Nišava River (right tributary of South Morava). -

Mother tongue: a forbidden experiment! by Atila THE FUTURE IS NOW, A JOURNEY TO CLIMATE CHANGE by Nicolas Tagnati L’edito’ Tic-tac-tic-tac!. Long time no see! What did you do during all this time? Did you enjoyed every single day of restaurants and bars opening? It has been a strange and busy period for us. We tried to renew ourselves and this is not an easy task to do. We also did some workshops'clay, pizza, natural cosmetics), we shot some videos, visited some places in the mountains or at the sea, we went to many art exhibitions, did some renovations and spent some party time in the bars! It takes time to be alive! I also realized that it takes a lot of time to do Nothing. I dont' mean to not do anything but to actively do Nothing. The difference is subtle. I decided to take the time to lose it. Being contemplative to struggle against the dictature of time is a luxury. Doing nothing is an art that require a preparation. When you want to achieve a task you usually know how to rich your goals. But what if the objective is NOTHING? This is paradoxical but I lately felt like I’m wasting time doing too many things. So, I thought if I do nothing, I might not feel that the time is wasted. And you know what? It worked! The lockdown is a golden occasion to change our relation to time. So, get rid of your watch, look around you, appreciate the sun, look at the flowers, observe the birds and relax. -

50 Not Well-Known Tourist Sites in Bulgaria
A LIST OF 50 NOT WELL-KNOWN TOURIST SITES IN BULGARIA № OBJECT DISTRICT ANNOTATION STAMP The northwest of Bulgaria The Krastata Kazarma (cross-shaped barracks) was built by the order of the local ruler Osman Pazvantoglou in 1801st to serve the needs of the Ottoman soldiers in the town. Previously on that same place was located The Crossed 1 Vidin The Garden of the Old Saray (The Palace of the Pasha). The building was Barracs, Vidin used as a konak and a house for their leader by the Janissaries . A covered wooden bridge connects it to the nearby weaponry workshop. After the Liberation it is used as a court house and barracks for the Bulgarian army. It is suggested that the Castra Martis fortress was built by Emperor Diocletian in the end of 3 rd and the beginning of 4 th century. It was meant to guard the passage between Bononia and Singidoum (Belgrade). In 377 Emperor Gratian and hi s troops passed by the fortress on their way to Fortress Kostra 2 Vidin Thracia, and in 408 the fortress was invaded for a short period of time by Martis, Kula the Huns leader Uldis. During the 5th century the fortification is restored by Emperor Justinian I (527-565), but around twenty years later it was again destroyed by Avar invasions. Centuries after that, the fort was used by the Bulgarians for the protection of The Vidin Kingdom. The Ethnographic Complex was built slowly through the years. “The Dimithracy Hadjitoshev” house-museum was opened first. On one side the traditional interior of the area is presented and on the other it shows the The Ethnographic patriotism of Dimithracy Hadjitoshev and his family.
