Not considered are popular accounts, textbooks, faunal lists and preliminary reports if these are summarised in later publications, and publications before 1850 if they do not contain descrip- tions of new species. Zusammenfassung Die vorliegende Bibliografie enthält die meisten wissenschaftlichen Publikation über die Biologie der Landisopoden (Unterordnung Oniscidea), die in einer europäischen Sprache bis zum Jahre 2000 veröffentlicht wurden. Nicht berücksichtigt sind populärwissenschaftliche Artikel, Lehrbücher, Faunenlisten und vorläufige Berichte, wenn diese in einer späteren Pu- blikation zusammengefasst werden, und Publikationen vor 1850, wenn sie keine Beschrei- bungen von neuen Arten enthalten. 1. Introduction In the present list we tried to compile a complete bibliography of scientific publi- cations on the isopodan suborder Oniscidea, covering all biological research fields. Such a list on a group of animals comprising some 3800 described species will, of course, never be complete. We shall certainly have missed a number of publications, especially in those more general topics as physiology, genetics, biochemistry, en- docrinology etc. Nevertheless we think it will be useful for every student of this ta- xon to dispose of such a list which can be scrutinised for publications of a certain field of interest. This should justify to publish a bibliography, the reason to do it was, however, another one. We intend to publish in the near future a world list of all described species of terrestrial isopods, with detailed bibliographies for every spe- cies. This will be done in several parts, and the present bibliography will have to be used as the reference list. 2 stuttgarter beiträge zur naturkunde Ser. A, Nr. 639 In the present list we have, on purpose, not included: 1. Popular accounts without new scientific information; 2. textbooks and treatises which do not contain new data or conceptions; 3. publications consisting only of faunistic records of common or widespread spe- cies; 4. reports on excursions with lists of the collected species if these are summarised in later publications; 5. preliminary reports on results treated in detail in later publications; 6. unpublished theses (Ph. D. or other); 7. electronic publications not published in a printed form; 8. publications that do not contain at least a title and summary written in Latin or Cyrillic letters (as e. g. papers written in Chinese). In the case of Russian publicati- ons the titles are either transcribed in Latin letters, or they are translated into English and put in square brackets; 9. publications before 1850 if they do not contain descriptions of new species; most of this older literature is compiled in the bibliography of BUDDE-LUND 1885. The list contains publications that have appeared until the year 2000. For journals abbreviations are used according or comparable to those given in the World List of Scientific Periodicals. Other publications are cited at full length. The arrangement of publications from the same author(s) and year (a, b, c. ..) is, for practical reasons, not necessarily chronological. 2. Abstract The energy regime in small Texas caves differs significantly from many caves of the better studied eastern United States in that surface-foraging cave crickets (Ceuthophilus secretus and Ceuthophilus “species B”) are major contributors to these systems. The federally listed endangered cave invertebrates of Travis, Williamson, and Bexar counties, Texas, are dependent on these crickets to transport energy from the surface to the cave environment. Using stable isotope analysis in combination with in- cave counts of animal life we examined foraging differences between S. invicata and cave cricket populations in nine caves chosen based on their low, medium, and high levels of human impact.

The genetic structure of several populations belonging to different subspecies (diploid bisexual, triploid parthenogenetic; epigean, troglophilic and troglobitic) was assessed by investigating 10 enzymatic systems corresponding to 15 putative loci. F-statistics and cluster- ing analysis indicated a high degree of genetic differentiation, corresponding to low levels of gene flow among populations, both epigean and hypogean, still considered to be conspecific. Estimates of divergence times calculated from genetic distance data suggest that the pattern of differentiation and the colonization of cave environments may be related to the palaeoclimatic change of the Messinian and PIio—Pleistocene glaciations. At the low phase of electroretinogram (ERG) amplitude (at noon), the arrangement of microvilli is ordered and the rhabdom is of the open type. An irregular arrangement of microvilli appears at the high phase of ERG amplitude (at midnight), when the rhabdom is of the closed type. The pigment granules disperse at midnight and assemble at noon. A centrally positioned, spike- producing eccentric cell is present in each ommatidium. Spectral response curves based on ERG measurements have two maxima, one to light of 383 nm wavelength, the other at around 520 nm. These two peaks represent the two classes of receptor cells identified by intracellular recordings. The ERG responses to light of 383 nm and 520 nm wavelengths display a diurnal rhythmicity, being high at night and low during the day. However, the responses to green light are more strongly affected than those to ultraviolet light. Consequently, the eye displays a relatively higher ultraviolet-sensitivity during the day, whereas at night sensitivity to green light is increased.

Ozier9, and Alan Cressler10 Abstract We provide an annotated checklist of species recorded from caves and other subterranean habitats in the state of Georgia, USA. We report 281 species (228 invertebrates and 53 vertebrates), including 51 troglobionts (cave-obligate species), from more than 150 sites (caves, springs, and wells). Endemism is high; of the troglobionts, 17 (33 % of those known from the state) are endemic to Georgia and seven (14 %) are known from a single cave. We identified three biogeographic clusters of troglobionts. Two clusters are located in the northwestern part of the state, west of Lookout Mountain in Lookout Valley and east of Lookout Mountain in the Valley and Ridge. In addition, there is a group of tro- globionts found only in the southwestern corner of the state and associated with the Upper Floridan Aquifer. At least two dozen potentially undescribed species have been collected from caves; clarifying the taxonomic status of these organisms would improve our understanding of cave biodiversity in the state.

A total of 8 species of woodlice were found. The number of collected species ranged from 1 (Dolina Chuczka, Mosty Kalińskie, Klimonty) to 5 (Łosiowe Błota). The most common species in the all studied reserves was Trachelipus rathkii. Key words: woodlouse fauna, nature reserves, Poland, Isopoda, species INTRODUCTION Woodlice are key organisms for nutrient cycling in many terrestrial ecosystems; how- ever, knowledge on this invertebrate group is limited as for other soil fauna taxa. By 2004, the world’s woodlouse fauna (Isopoda, Oniscidea) included 3637 valid species (Schmalfuss 2003). The fauna of terrestrial isopods in Europe has been active studied since the beginning of the XX century and is now well studied (Jeff ery et al. 2010). In Poland 37 isopod species inhabiting terrestrial habitats have been recorded so far, including 12 in Mazovia and 16 in Pomerania (Jędryczkowski 1979, 1981, Razowski 1997, Piksa and Farkas 2007, Astrouski and Aleksandrowicz 2018).
