We thought we would go straight to the source…the kids. For block one (math and Hebrew) and block two (language arts and Ju- daics) we are separated into three groups. We rotate every half hour. One group goes to Hebrew and two groups go to math. We all get to be in class to- gether, and we all get to be friends. Sometimes, for math and language arts we work as one group, and other times we work in separate groups or even in- dependently. The older kids sometimes know more than the younger kids and help them. The younger kids often learn things the older kids do, like the third graders get to learn fifth grade stuff, and that makes us feel happy. All of us are together for science, social studies/theater and Judaics/ theater. We all get to spend time to- gether and help each other, like reading a word, doing research, and understand- ing what we are learning. Working to- gether this way, we learn a lot from each other. MJCDS students help each other get ready for science class.

On Monday morning, we met with the students in the College of Galilee, heard about the special areas of study (taking care of water, wastewater engineering) and we heard their perspectives about what it is like to be a student in Israel. This is the beginning of another program in our Partnership, “Talk Israel” where UW Madison students connect with col- lege students in Israel to share perspec- tives and learn from each other.
