TO ALL BRANCHES WITH BT P&FS MEMBERS

EMBARGOED UNTIL TUESDAY 13 FEBRUARY 2018

Dear Colleague

BTPFS Security Pay Review

Following the commitment given by BTPFS in the 2017 Pay Review to enter into meaningful discussions on the pay structure for the Security colleagues I am pleased to inform you that those discussions and now been finalised and we have an agreement on a new pay strategy for all security colleagues.

All changes to pay rates concerning the new pay structure will be effective at the time of agreement with the CWU and will not be subject to back pay.

The proposed implementation date is 1st May 2018.

The new structure comprises of three tiers as follows:

Pay Structure

 A pay structure for security colleagues that will be broken down into three tiers (detailed in table 1).  Tier A and B will be aligned to the type of building the colleague currently works in (detailed in table 2).

Table 1 Tier A Tier B Tier C Operational Buildings Workstyle / HQ Supervisors Front of House Buildings Supervisor role of a “Security or Reception” Outstanding team of “security “Customer care skills” officers”

£8.45 - £9.94 - £9.72 - £11.43 - £11.17 - £13.14 - £11.43 £13.14 £15.11

 If a colleague’s current hourly rate is lower than the minimum of the Tier they are aligned too, they will receive an increase in payment to bring their hourly rate to the minimum amount for the Tier, i.e. £8.45 for Tier A colleagues, £9.72 for Tier B colleagues and £11.17 for Tier C colleagues.  Security colleagues will be subject to PRP going forward in the Pay Review.

Buildings

Table 2 shows the list of buildings that fall under each tier.

The Communications Union. .Dave Ward General Secretary  If a colleague currently works in a Tier A building they will paid within the pay range for Tier A (see Table 1).  If a colleague currently works in a Tier B building they will be paid within the pay range for Tier B (see Table 1).  All security supervisors will be paid as per the rates identified in Table 1 for Tier C.

To help understand the difference between each of the tiers a description has been written under Table 2.

Support officers This structure will not impact on support security officers. All support officers will receive the site rate for the building that falls in Tier A or Tier B.

Training

To support this pay structure all security colleagues will be required to complete a series of training courses to support their current development and competency. This will be broken down into a mixture of on-line courses and classroom based training. Further details will be communicated to you shortly via your Operations Security Manager. We will also be offering the opportunity for our security colleagues to participate in an apprenticeship.

 Tier B Buildings within the BT/EE estate have security officers and receptionists deployed to physically secure and assist visitors. These buildings have a mix of internal colleagues, visitors and contractors. Due to the nature of these building, computerised visitor management systems maybe in place to assist. If a Building has a mix of Tier A and B activities, Tier B would apply.
