Box, Samuel S3015 b. 1745, Orange District, S. C. While residing in Orange District, he was drafted during 1776 under Capt. Sanders and Col. Moultrie and was in the battle at Fort Moultrie. In 1779, he was drafted under Col. Moultrie and Gen. Lincoln. He was taken prisoner in the fall of Charleston and held twenty-two days. Afterwards, he was drafted under Col. Maitland and was in the battle at Stono. Thereafter, he was under Capt. Elliott and Gen. Marion and was in several skirmishes. (Moved to N. C. and Tenn.)

Boyce, Alexander

Eddins, William S32230 b. 7 December 1763, Lunenburg County, Va. While residing in Abbeville District, he enlisted in the latter part of December 1778 and served three months as a substitute for his father under Capt. William Freeman. He was engaged in guarding the town of Ninety Six. In April 1779, he volunteered and served until 10 October 1779 under Capt. John Calhoun and Col. Robert Anderson. During October 1779, he joined Capt. Robert Maxwell and Colonel Robert Anderson. He was in the siege of Ninety Six and was discharged near the end of April 1782. In April 1783, he re-enlisted and served until 20 October 1783 under Capt. Robert Maxwell, Col. Anderson and General Pickens. During this tour, he was on an expedition against the Cherokee Indians. At some time, he and his father were taken prisoner by the British. William escaped, but his father was held at Ninety Six throughout the winter. William became a Baptist minister. (Moved to Ga.) Hatcher, William 831727 b. 23 November 1759, Mecklenburg County, Va.

He moved to South Carolina in 1764 and later settled in Richmond County, Georgia. There after, he moved to Edgefield District, South Carolina. He enlisted about June 1778 and served four months under Capt. John Ryan and Col. IeRoy Hammond and was on the expedition to Florida. During this tour, he was in several skirmishes with Indians. In early 1779, he re-enlisted in the same unit and was in the battle at Stono Ferry. In November 1780, he revenlisted and served at various times under Capts. Patrick Carr, Willis Witaker, FRANCIS BOYKIN, Joshua Inman and Gals. Bran don, John Twiggs, Chandler and Micajah Williamson and Gen. Piekens of the Georgia and South Carolina regiments and was in the bat» ties at Blackstock’s Plantation, Reedy River, Cowpens, the siege of Augusta, Galphin’s Fort and was in numerous skirmishes with the Brit ish, Tories and Indians. About January 1782, he joined Gen. Wayne and was stationed at Cherokee Hill. He acted as a scout against the Indians, Tories and British. (Moved to Ca.) A.A.3434; T362.

Hatcher, William

He served one hundred twenty-five days in the militia. During May 1781, he served twenty eight days under Capt.John Mills as a foutman and from December 1781 through February 1782, he served sixty-seven days at Orangeburg under Capt. William M. While residing in Camden District, he enlisted during the winter of 1775 for six weeks as a lieutenant under Capt. John Gordon and Col. Thomas Taylor. From March 1780 to 1 November 1781, he was a lieutenant under Capt. John McKinney and Col. Taylor. During 1782, he was under Gen. Henderson. He was in an engagement at Mott's Hill, the siege of Ninety Six and the battle at Eutaw Springs. He assisted in the capture of Col. Fletcher. (Moved to Tenn. and Ky.) A.A.3613; R151; V534; 2554.
