Songwriter Extraordinaire Billy Vera Stops in for a Very Interesting Chat For Immediate Release Contact: Andy Goldfinger Grand Poohbah Flying Eye Radio Network ASCAP/BMI (818) 917-5183 Songwriter Extraordinaire Billy Vera Stops In For A Very Interesting Chat "The Person Who Doesn't Scatter The Morning Dew Will Not Comb Gray Hairs." Hunter S. Thompson, Famed American Philosopher Malibu, California, November 29, 2012 - This week’s addition of the Flying Eye Radio Network’s Music Gumbo features musician and songwriter Billy Vera in a candid interview with host Andy Goldfinger. Growing up with both parents in the entertainment industry, Vera began his music career when he was still a teenager with the first song he ever presented to a publisher, “Mean Old World,” becoming a chart hit for Ricky Nelson. Since then Vera has found success in songwriting, writing songs for artists such as Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Plant, Fats Domino, and his own band Billy & the Beaters. In the mid-80s, Vera received a phone call from the producer of the popular series “Family Ties” that changed his career. They wanted to use the Billy & the Beaters song "At This Moment” in an episode that resulted in great public response and sprang the song to #1 nationally. Billy Vera’s career does not stop there with music. Vera has taken on side-projects including appearing in various cult movies and TV shows such as his recurring role on “Beverly Hills, 90210.” He has also taken up voiceover acting and can be heard singing the theme song to the popular show “King of Queens.” Vera continues to write music with his most recent album, “Big Band Jazz,” released earlier in the month. Join in for an interview not to miss to hear more about Billy Vera’s newest release, playing at the Apollo Theater, and more. Previous Music Gumbo interviews include Little Feat members Paul Barrere and Bill Payne as well as David Lindley, Coco Montoya, Jason Sinay, and Jim Messina. Flying Eye Radio Network is an Internet radio station which began broadcasting in 2007. Flying Eye broadcasts the entire spectrum of musical colors. Every single type of music is represented on the Flying Eye Radio Network. Jazz, rock, hip hop, R & B, country, rockabilly, and classical are just some of the pieces that make up this musical puzzle. It's a cerebral surge of auditory ambition. The lines of music are not blurred they are erased. Each person has the ability to pick whatever music they want, there is no list, no consultant, and there is no one telling anyone what to play or what not to play. Flying Eye also features numerous unsigned artists that are out there making a living, touring and playing, and we make a concerted effort to ensure their music has a captive audience on a regular basis. The Queen of the Flying Eye, Dusty Street, sets the tone for the week on Monday. She broadcasts semi-live from the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. Her knowledge and ability to weave everything into a musical theatre masterpiece every single week is truly art in motion. Tuesday finds Rock Rhythm & Roots hosted by Golden Mic Laureate Steve Cosio. It is the music lover's radio show. Steve brings the music of Austin and surrounding areas that we would never hear. Thursday finds Flying Eye Radio Network founder and Grand Poohbah, Andy Goldfinger offering the listener a potpourri of musical comestibles that encompass the entire musical spectrum. Nothing but trouble finishing the week in our own Radio Legend Geno Michellini and his Turntable Hits. Geno’s show is a tribute to what FM radio used to be. He is untethered and unleashed! Geno provides laughter therapy with the Flying Eye Funnies, and the traditional weekend send off with the Bang The Drum ceremony. There is none better at intermingling the nuances of music, history and comedy into a cohesive understandable art form. The beauty is it's a podcast and can be listened to any time, via the web, or downloaded to your favorite Mp3 device or telephone. !@#$%& For more information on Flying Eye Radio Network contact Andy Goldfinger (818) 917-5183 E-mail: [email protected] | Website: http://www.flyingeyeradionetwork.com.

  • Multimillion-Selling Singer Crystal Gayle Has Performed Songs from a Wide Variety of Genres During Her Award-Studded Career, B
MultiMillion-selling singer Crystal Gayle has performed songs from a wide variety of genres during her award-studded career, but she has never devoted an album to classic country music. Until now. You Don’t Know Me is a collection that finds the acclaimed stylist exploring the songs of such country legends as George Jones, Patsy Cline, Buck Owens and Eddy Arnold. The album might come as a surprise to those who associate Crystal with an uptown sound that made her a star on both country and adult-contemporary pop charts. But she has known this repertoire of hardcore country standards all her life. “This wasn’t a stretch at all,” says Crystal. “These are songs I grew up singing. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time. “The songs on this album aren’t songs I sing in my concerts until recently. But they are very much a part of my history.” Each of the selections was chosen because it played a role in her musical development. Two of them point to the importance that her family had in bringing her to fame. You Don’t Know Me contains the first recorded trio vocal performance by Crystal with her singing sisters Loretta Lynn and Peggy Sue. It is their version of Dolly Parton’s “Put It Off Until Tomorrow.” “You Never Were Mine” comes from the pen of her older brother, Jay Lee Webb (1937-1996). The two were always close. Jay Lee was the oldest brother still living with the family when their father passed away.

Nov 10, Sally Anne rated it it was ok. As time progressed George became increasingly autocratic even locking other members out of the studio as he insisted on producing albums by himself. Preview — Willin' by Ben Fong-Torres. I am a "Feat Head" as it turns out. Apr 19, Doug rated it really liked it. Little Feat's "Waiting for Columbus" is widely regarded as one of the best live albums of all time. I am being generous, only because I did learn some things about Little Feat. As grateful as I was to get some information on this decades-long, brilliant band, this has to be one of the worst written bios I've ever read. Seven shows were recorded and the resulting Waiting For Columbus , produced by George, was released in March Average rating 3. Weather Report? They couldn't ask for a better apologist than a writer whose byline is instantly familiar to anyone who read Rolling Stone in its pre-disco heyday and whose graceful way of telling a story is undiminished. Ben Fong- Torres' new biography of the band, "Willin'," makes you wish there had been a filmmaker on hand to shoot that particular run of shows in , too, since his account of the group falling apart makes it sound like a documentary could have been a "This is Spinal Tap" before its time.

Many explanations have been proposed to explain this tendency. This study critically examines these theories through historical and musicological analyses and concludes that the prevalence of the downbeat is a mixture of Jamaican folk and African-American popular music influences in its earliest incarnation, but was later deliberately emphasized in an attempt to create a unique new musical style.
