The song also encourages fellow Hwa Chongi-ans to give their best at song writing. The lyrics of the song convey her love for the school as well as the idea that through hardships and difficulties, students can grow as individuals as they strengthen their characters.

Song History

Inspired by the songs composed by their grand seniors, the 19th Students Council Song I/C, Ho Han Kiat, composed the melody while the rest of the Council came together to compose the lyrics during an over-night camp. The captivating lyrics thus encapsulate a shared vision among the batch.

COLLEGE SONGS, DANCES & CHEERS 108 STUDENTS’ HANDBOOK 2016 (COLLEGE SECTION) Never Forget

[Verse 1] Every morning we meet at our CT bench to put our bags and have a chat For two whole years we did the same until we graduate PE, lectures and much more tutorials were the things we would expect The left and right wings, the bridge the globe were the places we all shared

Ten years down the road will we ever get to meet one another? Will things ever be the same will we still be friends forever?

[Chorus] Never will we ever forget all the times we had in Hwachong All the days we spent, hand in hand, playing to our hearts’ content We will always be together, heart to heart, we’ll conquer All the loneliness, the emptiness ‘Cause Hwachong will always be there

[Verse 2] It has been some time since we’ve gathered in this place where we first met The times we used to share together, oh how can we forget Many things have changed since we moved on, but there’s one thing that stays the same The Hwachong spirit in you and me, the eternal burning flame

Ten years down the road we will still be here to see one another Though things may not be the same we will still be friends forever

Repeat [Chorus] x 2

Song History

It started with the 32nd ECACO wanting to introduce an English song as a breath of fresh air, a departure from the initially purely Chinese collection of college songs. Having heard of a song composed by Mr Galvin Sng from 99S31 who was also a teacher in the high school section, they approached him and were gladly given permission to resurrect the song and promote it as an official Hwa Chong College Song.

COLLEGE SONGS, DANCES & CHEERS 109 STUDENTS’ HANDBOOK 2016 (COLLEGE SECTION) Destinations [Verse 2] There may always seem [Verse 1] To be brighter destinations Years of our lives Somewhere else to go And we are back at another start Brand new beginning Time passes, time it flies And then we realize New faces, fresh changes That this is where we all belong Nothing is just as it was 5 , 6 , 7 , 8! But somehow we are not afraid 5, 6, 7, 8! Repeat [Chorus] x 2

[Chorus] This is the place we’ll love And this is the place we’ll grow And this is the place We’ll always know that Tomorrow brings forever

Song History

“Destinations” is a song written by the 37th Song I/Cs Wong Yang Cheng and Natalee Ho. First written as a batch song for the juniors, its lyrics describe the transitions freshmen face when coming into Hwa Chong Junior College for the first time. At the same time, it emphasizes that Hwa Chong will always be our home and where we, as Hwa Chongians, belong.
