Programme Name: B.A. in Odia

This Under Graduate programme in Odia consists of six semesters spread across three years. A student admitted into this programme has to complete two AECC courses, fourteen Discipline Specific Courses, four Discipline Specific Elective courses, four Generic Elective courses and two Skill Enhancement Courses (one to be selected by a student from four courses in the syllabus and one to be selected by the College) in order to be awarded the degree.

Marks per paper - Midterm: 20 marks, End term: 80 marks, Total - 100 marks

Credit per paper - 6 (0STheory +01 Tutorial)

Programme Outcomes:

After completing this Under Graduate programme, a student will have fair understanding and language. He/she shall be able to read a good verse of Odia. and can add to his/ her vocabulary. He/she can be able to write articles as well as acquire the mastery in oratory and in studies in . The learners can pursue a career in academic and administrative field in. teaching, research, manuscritology, fine arts, translation, news reading, and journalism. Above all, this programme shall awaken students to their rich cultural, moral, literary and scientific heritage.

This paper will help the students to know about the development of the history of Odia Literature from the age of 'Charyagitika' to 'Panchasakha age' i-e 1s century to 1650.

This paper will help the students to identify themselves with romantic prose and poetry. They also know about Champu, Boli, Choupai, Chatisa, Bhajan, Janana, Chaupadi, etc. music related Odia Literature.

3. Modern Odia Literature

This paper will help the students to know about the greatest literary persons Odia like Sri , Sri FakirMohan Senapati, Sri and Sri etc. The students also know about the development of English Education, Newspaper, Printing Machine. and the movement of destruction of Language in .

4. Post-Independenee Odia Literature

This paper will introduce about the impact of both native and foreign literature on Odia Language and its development. It also informs about the construction of sabda, bibhakti, karaka. samasa, etc.

7. Folk Culture and Folk Literature

This paper will help the students to know about the nature of the culture and the verbal literature of Odisha.

8. Theory of Western and Oriental Literature

This paper will help the students to know about the theoretical comparative analysis between Western and Oriental Literature.

9. Odia rama and One-Act Play

This paper will help the students to know about the definition of One-Act play and Drama, and some of the Dramatists.

10. Ancient and Medieval Odia Literature

This paper will help the students to know about the literary creatives. especially of Sarala Deas , Baladev Ratha, and in the ancient and medieval times.

11. Modern Prose and Poetry

This paper will help the students to know about some of the odia creations like Chilika Kichakabadha, GalaMadhaba, Kanta o Phula, Mousumi Jtra Sangita, Alaka Sanyala. Andha Mahumachhi, etc. of modern poets.

This paper introduces about the writings of greatest Odia prose Writers which helps for the intellectual development of the students.

This paper will help the students to know about the nature, development and growth of Odia prose. poem, drama, story, novel, etc.

This paper will help the students to know about the use of grammar to make Odia literature more meaningful and attractive.

This paper will help the students to know some of the selective prose, poetry, story, one-act play which help the students to develop a constructive mind with them.

4. Special Study

This paper introduces especially some of the writer's travelogue, biography and auto-biography.

GENERAL ELECTIVE (GE): 044

1. Fiction

This paper will teach students some specific works like Shasti of Kanhu Charan. Amabasyara Janha by Gobinda Dash, Pruthibi Bahara Manisha by Gokula Mohapatra, etc. novels and Sabutharu Dirgharatri by Chandra sekhar Ratha and some other stories.

2. Drama and One-Act Play

This paper will introduce about some dramas like Bhata, Amrutasya Putrah, Mahanataka, Artha o Chanakya; and some one-act plays like Shweta Ganga, Chhadmabesi, Ahuti mamatara etc. in this paper to develop the drama and one-act play mind with in student's mind.

This paper will help the students to know from the ancient Odia prose-poetry to modern prose- poetry. Through this paper the students can touch all the ages of Odia Literature.

This paper is containe some of the selected prose from some renowned writers.
