    PERTH Arena Joondalup Kennedya Drive, Joondalup GROUND TRANSPORT To get to site To get to site from Perth city, travel north on the Mitchell Freeway and exit at Hodges Drive. (If you’re using a sat-nav, or googlemap directions – it will probably tell you to exit at Shenton Avenue. Ignore it, there will be road closures on Shenton) At the Hodges Drive exit, turn right. This road becomes Grand Boulevard at the first Joondalup Drive intersection. Continue on Grand Blvd until you reach Joondalup Drive a second time! Stop. Arena Joondalup, Main Stage To get onto site You will enter site from behind main stage. The road closures mean that you will have to navigate through patron foot traffic – hello hazard lights and slow speeds – 40km please! On the map below the red enclosed area indicates the road closure, the yellow indicates your journey. From Grand Boulevard, turn left to pass through the Road Closure (show your vehicle pass) and travel down Joondalup Drive. At Kennedya Drive, make a U-Turn and travel back up Joondalup Drive. Turn left into site at GATE N. Under no circumstances are you to cross over the median strip at Grand Blvd & Joondalup Dr. While this is a seemingly absurd route, this really is the only acceptable way into the site. Limited potential for criminal evidence value. Higher City and Police resourcing costs to manage, obtain footage and check/maintain system. Vast majority of movement is vehicular. Preliminary Review: The City agrees with the consultant that the placement of traditional CCTV within Wattle Grove Cell 9 is not a cost effective or viable solution to reduce crime within the area, and therefore recommends that it is not considered.

NORBERGER (Joondalup) [6.29 pm]: Madam Deputy Speaker, it is an honour to deliver my first speech to the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia tonight. I begin by congratulating you on your appointment to the position of Deputy Speaker of the house and I also congratulate all those who were elected or re-elected on 9 March. To be afforded the privilege of representing the people of Joondalup, such a diverse and progressive electorate, is humbling to say the least, and I sincerely thank the people of the electorate of Joondalup for their faith in me to be our community spokesperson in this Parliament. I may at this point also acknowledge my predecessor, Mr Tony O’Gorman, who served the community of Joondalup for over 12 years. Whilst we may have differed in our vision for Joondalup’s future, there is no denying that Mr O’Gorman cared greatly for our community and its many establishments. I wish him and his family all the very best for the future. The electorate of Joondalup covers approximately 30 square kilometres, taking in the suburbs of Craigie, Beldon, Heathridge, Edgewater, Connolly, Joondalup CBD, Joondalup and parts of Currambine. The electorate is bounded by Whitfords Avenue along the south, Marmion Avenue along the west and Mitchell Freeway and beautiful Lake Joondalup along the east. The northern boundary is a combination of Moore Drive and Burns Beach Road.

    The Liberal Party of Australia (WA Division) Inc STATE REDISTRIBUTION SUBMISSION - March 2003 - METROPOLITAN REGIONS < East Metropolitan < North Metropolitan < South Metropolitan LIBERAL PARTY REDISTRIBUTION SUBMISSION: METROPOLITAN AREA Many of the 34 districts within the metropolitan area require only minor adjustment; the major imbalances have occurred through very heavy growth in enrolments affecting a small number of districts. For the most part this redistribution requires that comparatively undersized and slow growing districts should push outwards and eventually absorb the excess numbers in districts like Peel and Swan Hills. An exception needs to be made within the North Metropolitan region where the combined growth of the current Wanneroo and Joondalup districts justifies the creation of an entirely new district. The creation of a new district (as distinct from an altered district that may be given a new name) requires the abolition of another district. We submit that with the combination of upward pressure from the inner western suburbs, and downward movement from other coastal-based districts to the north, the current district of Innaloo ceases to be viable. We therefore propose that it be absorbed by the districts of Churchlands, Carine, Nollamara and Yokine. At the 1994 distribution the districts of Balcatta and Glendalough disappeared in a similar manner to enable the creation of entirely new districts of Joondalup and Ballajura. There are several districts whose current boundaries, based on well defined communication links and a natural union of suburbs, should continue largely unchanged. We would argue that the preservation of this community of interest justifies some departure from a close projected equality of enrolment numbers.
