House music icon, Junior Sanchez once claimed.. “Lupe was born to make music and be a DJ. She’s fire!” And boy was he right, the Colombian-born Fuentes’s unique style of tech-house with subtle hints of Latin flavour is steadily garnering more support on the scene and her label going from strength to strength in 2017. Could you give us a little bit of background on you, the label, and what your influences were and still are? My name is Lupe Fuentes I am a DJ, Producer, label owner and Radio host located in Los Angeles, California. I have been doing music professionally for the past 6 years. I started In The Loop as a way to have more control over my release schedule since I produce a lot and release a lot of music, but very quickly In The Loop has become a platform for established and up coming djs / producers from all over the world to release their music, and for music lovers to discover new music. http://news.traxsource.com/articles/2589/label-spotlight-023-in-the-loop 2/6 3/28/2017 Label Spotlight #023 - In The Loop - Traxsource News What have been your favorite releases from the label over the years? Woah, So hard to say, since our sound develops with every single release and every release defines the future of our brand and sound. That is the reason we so carefully curate the music we put out and the artists we develop. Looking back into the last few months and 2016, some of the records that really stand out to me are “Underground” by Alaia & Gallo, “Walk” by Jojo Angel and Matteo Rosolare, “Just Don’t Stop” By Ghetto Blaster, “1000 Watts” Kerri Chandler Remix and my collaboration with Todd Terry “Jack The House” to name a few. Tell us a bit about what is coming up for the label At the moment we are very busy and In The Loop is growing, so It’s very exciting to see it evolve from only an idea, to a brand where we have a staff of passionate people that work on it every day and help to develop the different aspects of the label. We have our very first Miami event for MMW-WMC at the Pool at Epic Hotel in Downtown Miami, Thursday, March 23rd. We have a really dope line up, with artists like Prok and Fitch, Sacha Robotti, Saeed Younan, Wally Lopez, and many others, and we are super stoked to spend time with friends and get to see people that we only see once a year and at the same time showcase the In the Loop “sound” in such a beautiful city like Miami. Simultaneously, we keep A&Ring and signing records that we believe in to release every week like we have been doing for the last year since we moved our schedule to weekly as the result of the high volume of demos we are lucky enough to get. In The Loop Radio, is also one of the branches we enjoy the most about In The loop, we are currently on In The Loop Radio Vol 55, and we’ve had featured artists on the show like, Hector Couto, Montel, Juliet Sikora, Roger Sanchez and many more. In the Loop Radio is syndicated in over 30 countries around the world! I truly like to support people and that way become valuable as a brand in the electronic music scene. We are proud to take responsibility for developing new talent and being true to the music we love. We work very hard with our promotion and send out each and every release via iMusic in the UK, using both Inflyte and our own personal email system. We treat every record with equal importance and really try and give each record the respect it deserves. We share detailed reports of who supports our records with the artists and through our music, friendships, and social media, we have built the “IN THE LOOP CREW” across many countries, and we are growing! What do you look for when signing a record for In The Loop? Any tips for budding producers looking to get signed to the label? I always look to feel something. That is how I differentiate music, it either makes you feel something or makes you feel nothing at all. In the loop is a label that releases music for the dance floor, So I usually look for tracks that I think would work on the dance floor, tracks that make you escape from the everyday reality of peoples lives, and makes you feel like that this is the only moment in your life! It’s hard to express it with words, it’s “un sentimiento” like we say in Spanish.     Masters At Work Their name says it all – Masters At Work. For over a decade, "Little Louie” Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez have shepherded dance music down new paths with their inventive production style and imaginative feel for different musical forms. The two native New Yorkers have amassed an overwhelming body of work in that time, one that includes hundreds of original productions, remixes and side projects, redefining the way we think of music in clubs. Vega and Gonzalez defiantly mix everything they can find – house, hip-hop, funk, disco, Latin, African and jazz – into a universal groove. And in doing so, MAW has become a cultural mélange unto itself, emblematic of the multicultural society in which we live. Our Time Is Coming is the group's third official album, second under the MAW moniker, and first for Tommy Boy Records. Comprised of wonderful new compositions and a handful of their most popular singles from recent years, it is indicative of the ambitiously eclectic MAW sound: a vibrant dance groove culled from a mesh of Latin rhythms, jazz and soul. Vega and Gonzalez composed, produced and arranged the album's ten songs, using crafty studio work and live instrumentation and help from some regular collaborators (India, Roy Ayers) and a few special guests (Patti Austin, James Ingram, Stephanie Mills). The Beginnings "Little Louie” Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez officially started their union as Masters At Work in 1990. Vega, a prodigious DJ around New York, met Gonzalez, a producer, through burgeoning house DJ Todd Terry. Gonzalez’s song "Salsa House" was a favorite of Vega, who fell for its Latin-influenced, everything-goes flavor.

    Steve Mac (Producer/Remixer/DJ) Biog Steve Mac, AKA (formerly) one half of the Rhythm Masters began his career as a scratch hip-hop DJ at the age of 11 – where he spent as many hours a day he could practicing, and ultimately left school early because of his obsession with perfecting the vinyl ‘scratching’ skill and also the studio. He was first inspired by the likes of Marly Marl, Dr Dre, Grandmaster Flash and Jazzy Jeff and many other Hip-Hop DJs and initially started ‘messing around’ making Hip-Hop records. Steve’s Foray into house music first began with Rob Chetcuti in 1990, in Malta. Both in a local Hip-hop group, they spotted what they describe as each other’s ‘formulating talent’, and formed the production/DJ duo: The Rhythm Masters – Steve, bringing his acquired skills from his Hip-Hop past into house music. After three years of studio work, Steve, (along with Rob) moved back to England and spent much of the first half of the 90’s absorbing the house scene - particularly the garage sounds of the US, where his long-term fascination with Todd Terry and the US sound began. The sounds from this time can be heard subliminally through every Rhythm Masters track – especially from their album Disconnect Your Head with tracks like The Ghetto and Underground (feat. The vocals of Diane Charlemagne) on Black and Blue. And, amongst others, 22 releases on their own label – Disfunktional Recordings. Steve and Rob formed Disfunktional in 1996 and have since, seen releases from Junior Sanchez, Yousef, Richard Grey, Paul Woolford, Lottie, Mutiny, Kashmir, DJ Triple A and the mighty Danny Tenaglia and gorgieo moroders (from here to eternity) It wasn’t until 1996 and their remixes of Todd Terry’s Jumping’ and Plastic Dreams that it really took off for the Rhythm Masters.

    KC Lights In what may seem like overnight, Glasgow’s multitalented DJ/musician/producer KC Lights has broken out as one of the fastest-rising acts in the global dance music scene. Undoubtedly one of the brightest hopes to come out of Glasgow, Scotland, he’s evolved his expansive production range and uplifting DJ style in the studio and on the road, with fans touting his unique take on house music. KC Lights finished his degree in music and initially intended to write electro acoustic compositions, along with exploring his interest in jazz and classical music. After working more closely with electronic sounds, he also ventured out on holiday to Ibiza. The trip, along with the music and energy, inspired him. His new sounds incorporated layers of lush melodies with powerful piano chords, bass, and uplifting strings behind hypnotic vocals atop a framework of soulful, driving house. The official debut of KC Lights came in 2013 via the Sweet Step EP on Cheap Thrills. The EP set off a chain reaction of subsequent hit singles and releases. The 2015 single, “Lose It All,” was his first release to gain major traction within the electronic world, with house music heavyweights Rudimental, MK, and Danny Howard all singing its praises. It was his following single, “No No No,” that became KC Lights’ breakthrough track and a definitive Ibiza anthem of 2015. The song hit #3 on the BBC Radio 1 Dance Charts and reached the Top 10 on the Shazam UK Dance Chart. Influential BBC Radio 1 DJ/host Annie Mac championed the track and included it on her Annie Mac Presents 2015 compilation released through Virgin EMI Records.
