In 1951, he led the with 24 complete games while becoming the first AL since 1924 to win 20 games for a last place team (the Browns) and the only AL pitcher in Major League history to accomplish that feat for a team that lost 100 (102) games. A good hitting pitcher, Ned posted a more than respectable .305 batting average that year as well. All of this led to Ned being named the AL's for the 1951 All- Star game played in Detroit. He finished his Major League career with a won-loss record of 129-157 and a 3.73 ERA. HALL OF FAME
