We focus on a wide range of issues such as planning, community facilities and infrastructure, parks and open space, public transport, parking, education, the environment and health. Community Councils are officially recognised by the ACT Government and are consulted by government on issues affecting our communities. History The WVCC was formed in 2001 as work begun on the Woden Town Master Plan which was subsequently released in 2004. The WVCC invested a significant amount of work into the development of the 2004 Master Plan, however it was not incorporated into the Territory plan and had ‘No statutory status’. After some ad hoc development proposals at various sites around the Woden town centre over the years that were not compliant with the 2004 Master Plan, we welcomed the announcement that a new master plan planning process would start. Consultation with the WVCC started in late 2012 with the Environment and Planning Directorate (EPD) presenting at several WVCC public meetings on this issue. WVCC appreciates the extensive community consultation that preceded the Draft Plan, the results of which have been helpfully consolidated and recorded in the Community Engagement Report Stage1) of October 2014. One issue of concern to the WVCC is that a community stakeholder workshop, similar to the meeting held with lessees and traders, was not conducted.

A majority of Mount Majura is currently run as a Nature Reserve. Many parts of the reserve have infestations of non- indigenous plants, or weeds, because of prior land use and farming practices. One particular site, at the top of the Casuarina trail, on the saddle between Mount Majura and Mount Ainslie, known as the “Old Sheep Camp” is particularly infested with weeds. In my project I investigated the history of the site, the reasons for the weed infestation and the methods of rehabilitation the local park care group have available to them, and are utilising. This project seeks to answer the following questions about the site: 1. Who owned and managed the area and how was it used before it became a Nature Reserve? 2. What are the reasons for the heavy weed infestation on the site? 3. What processes and procedures can the local environment group use to rehabilitate the area?     Australian Capital Territory Road Transport (Mass, Dimensions and Loading) Higher Mass Limits (HML) Exemption Notice 2013 (No 1) Notifiable instrument NI2013-348 made under the Road Transport (Mass, Dimensions and Loading) Regulation 2010, section 47 (Higher mass limit notices for eligible vehicles). 1 Name of instrument This instrument is the Road Transport (Mass, Dimensions and Loading) Higher Mass Limits (HML) Exemption Notice 2013 (No 1). 2 Commencement This instrument commences on the day after its notification. 3 Vehicle exemption I exempt a vehicle or combination to which this notice applies under part 1 of schedule 1 from the mass limits set out in section 1.9 of schedule 1 to the Road Transport (Mass, Dimensions and Loading) Regulation 2010 if the vehicle complies with, and is operated in accordance with, the conditions set out in part 2 of the schedule. 4 Declared routes I declare that a vehicle or combination to which this notice applies may operate on a route mentioned in schedule 1. 5 Displacement of Legislation Act, s 47 (6) The Legislation Act, section 47 (6) does not apply to this instrument. Note The text of an applied, adopted or incorporated instrument, whether applied as in force at a particular time or from time to time, is taken to be a notifiable instrument if the operation of the Legislation Act, s 47 (5) or (6) is not disapplied (see s 47 (7)). 6 Revocation This instrument revokes NI2010-98 and NI2011-418.
