The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting polices set out in note 1 to the accounts and comply with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)). Objectives and Activities Founded in the United Kingdom in 1866, it is the world’s oldest and most respected aeronautical society. The principal objectives of the Society as set out in its Charter of Incorporation granted by letter patent of His Majesty The King George VI in 1949 are “the general advancement of Aeronautical Art, Science and Engineering and more particularly promoting that species of knowledge which distinguishes the profession of Aeronautics.” The Society strives to maintain the highest standards of professionalism in all aerospace disciplines and, as such, the qualifications endowed by the Society are internationally recognised as a professional hallmark. As a learned body, it runs an extensive conference and lecture programme which is available to the public. -

Of course the Kiwis take on Samoa on Saturday night at Mt Smart, and that one should be a good game too. League legend Olsen Filipaina is taking the ball out, which is pretty cool given he has represented the Kiwis and Samoa. The game I am looking forward to is the Kiwis v Tonga in Hamilton, because there is not going to be a lot of love lost when those two sides meet, after everything that has gone on. Before a ball is kicked I have the Kiwis lunch at the Ellerslie Events Centre to look forward to on Friday. When Pete asked if I would take it on with Gordon Gibbons and Tony Feasey, I foolishly said yes, not want- ing to let Pete down. But in truth Gordon has been amazing and we have an incredible line-up of Kiwis greats taking to the stage, and players with a long history of World Cup and test glory in attendance. I have been to several of Peter’s Kiwis lunches and enjoyed every one of them. -

Sono stati anni che ho interamente dedicato allo studio e alla pianifica- zione del territorio, per cui ho ben presente l’importanza di un efficiente sistema di mobilità per l’Italia meridionale e insulare. Le regioni dell’Italia del Sud sono attualmente dotate di un sistema aeroportua- le moderno e quindi lo sforzo che bisogna compiere è in direzione della piena inte- grazione con le reti di trasporto europee, affinché il Mezzogiorno d’Italia diventi la vera testa di ponte continentale verso i paesi della riva sud ed est del Mediter- raneo. Un vasto piano di interventi infrastrutturali negli aeroporti dell’Italia meridionale è in corso di attuazione in esecuzione di Accordi di programma quadro per il tra- sporto aereo sottoscritti con le singole regioni. Sono il frutto di una efficace collabo- razione istituzionale tra l’Unione Europea, che li ha finanziati con i fondi strutturali, le regioni, che hanno impegnato importanti contributi, e il Ministero dei Trasporti e delle Infrastrutture impegnato a centrare l’obiettivo di rendere migliore servizio al cittadino-utente. Comunque è l’intero panorama del trasporto aereo dell’Italia meri- dionale che potrebbe uscire profondamente rinnovato grazie agli interventi del PON Trasporti. Dal punto di vista territoriale la geografia articolata dell’Italia rende prioritarie le esigenze di consolidamento di un vasto network senza privilegiare solo le tratte più redditizie, e la continuità territoriale è prerequisito irrinunciabile perché l’Europa sia veramente unita e perché le barriere geografiche non si trasformino in ostacoli allo sviluppo economico. -

News 30.04.18 Harrier Park set for take-off as access road opens A “transformational” industrial development at a strategic site in the East Midlands is expected to pick up speed after the completion of a major road which opens up access for business. Harrier Park at Hucknall is expected to support up to 1500 new jobs and attract a new generation of businesses on a site which extends to 70 acres. A long-term project led by Muse Developments, it will see up to 90,000 square metres of employment space and hundreds of new homes built on surplus land alongside the Rolls-Royce Aerospace supply chain plant off atnallW Road. Whilst residential development is already underway, large-scale industrial development hinges on new roads which will enable vehicle access to and from the site on to the Hucknall by-pass through a new access road which has been jointly funded by a £7m investment by Nottinghamshire County Council and Rolls-Royce. Councillor Kay Cutts, leader of Nottinghamshire County Council, was among those present at the formal opening of the new road which leads into the site from the junction. She said that accelerating the growth of the county economy by supporting new development was a top priority. “This is an important milestone for a development that has the potential to make a real difference to the Nottinghamshire economy and we have been delighted to play a significant part in its progress,” she commented “We want to support not only world-leading businesses like Rolls-Royce but also provide opportunities for other businesses in the county to expand and for companies from outside the area to enjoy the benefits which come from investing in Nottinghamshire.” David Hughes, the Council’s newly-appointed director for Growth and Investment, added: “We need to create new opportunities for our people and show that Nottinghamshire is a great place to invest in and do business. -
